CaseStudy1SolrosenDayCareCenterArchitecture:SteinHalvorsenLocation:KongRingsgate17,3510Hønefoss,NorwayProjectarea:1,300sqmProjectyear:2009Solrosenisahub-baseddaycarewherethefacilitiesaresuitedforlearninginahighlyvaluedplace.Beforethis,thedaycarewasaretentionfacilityabandonedlongago.Thisarchituraldesigninspiredfromthepetalofmarigoldflowers,Ambitionofthedesignwasinvitingbuilding,tomakekindergartenaplacethatwelcomesyouwhetheryouareachild,aparentoranemployee.Theideaofthedaycarecenterarchitecturaldesignwasfromthemarigoldflowerandit’samazingasthecentercanbeaccessedfrommanyplaces.Theinteriorandexteriordesignaredifficultandunique.Unlikeothermodernarchitectureandcontemporarydesign,thedaycarecenterFelsoordfacadesofpublicspacewithetchedglass,dressedinamanipulatedphotoofabasewithathatchedroof.Adjacentwallscouldbeseeninthelightandcoveredwithagridofheat-treatedpine.Thisnetworkrespondstotheformsofstrawintheglassfacadeandpartscontinuedtogrow,combinestheoldandnewdesign.Thedifferentbasesareindependentzoneseachwithspecificcontent.Thesumrepresentsdiversitywherethechildischallengedindifferentwaysthroughouttheday.EnteringthekindergartenfromKongRingsstreetyouareledtothecentralcircularroom–thecoreofthebuilding.Theactivitiesinthebasesbasearereflectedinthedesignofoutdoorspacelinkedtoit.Thelargewindowsprovidesunlightintotheinsideandcreatecohesionbetweenoutsideandinside.Thebuildinghasonlyonefloor–the“petal”onthenorthsidehastwofloors–anditappearslow,intimateandinviting;abuildingonchildren’sownterms.nClassRoom1HallClassroom2n查看更多
