I asked some people to give me their memories of what happened to them on the sports field and beyond, and this is what they told me... Cup winners When I was about ten , the football team from our year unexplainably made it to the cup final of the local schools’ league .I say unexplainably because I only remember us losing nearly every match we played . Anyway , in the final I set up the winning goal , a brilliant cross to my mate David who headed the ball in just before the final whistle . I still have a photograph of the team holding the cup. Forest hike I remember ha ving to lead a group of eight boys on a school expedition for the best part of two days when I was a teenager. Even though we got lost at one point , I managed to keep them all together and get them from one end of a large forest to the other and back by sheer (纯粹的) force of will . I was chosen to be the leader, I think, because I was the only one who knew how to read a map ! When we arrived back at the campsite we found out that all the other groups had cheated and hitched (搭便车) most of the way instead ... I felt a bit stupid, but also rather proud of myself at the same time for having done it properly. Learning to swim, learning to drown I learned to swim comparatively late, I suppose. I was maybe nine years old, but my brother had a painful experience which nearly put him off for life. We lived in the USA for a while and had access to a university pool where the coaches had trained the American Olympic team . In those days , though , their idea of teaching kids how to swim was to tie a can to their ankles with a bit of string (绳), throw them in the deep end and shout “Swim!”. I’m surprised my brother survived at all. He could only have been about six at the time. 36. The passage mainly talks about ______. A. tips on taking part in outdoor activities B. how people consider physical activities C. why people love outdoor activities D. people's experiences of physical activities 37. What did the first person do in the school’s cup final? A. He scored the winning goal. B. He provided the pass for the final goal. C. He blew the whistle at the end of the game. D. He lost every game in the season. 38. The underlined word “expedition” in the third paragraph has the same meaning to ” _____”. A. match B. deal C. trip D. research 39. The second person felt a bit stupid after hiking through the forest because ______. A. some of his teammates had arrived before him B. his teammates knew how to read the map in fact C. the other groups returned to the campsite halfway D. the other groups had chosen a cleverer way 40. It can be learned that when the third person was young, ______. A. he learned swimming from the same coach as his elder brother B. the swimming coach's teaching method was rather inconsiderate C. his family lived near a university pool for about ten years D. the American Olympic team had no swimming pool of its own B Not a day goes by when we don’t use the World Wide Web. Today it has become almost as important to every family as food and water! This year, the World Wide Web has turned 25 years old. What many people don’t know is that the web was at first created to improve communication between thousands of scientists in Switzerland. In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee was a 34-year-old British physicist working as a software(软件) engineer at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland. Since CERN was a huge organization with thousands of scientists, communication between them was becoming increasingly difficult. Berners-Lee wanted to develop a system to solve the problem. His paper suggested an information system, where a page on one computer could have a link to another page on another computer (connected through the Internet), allowing scientists to read lots of information quickly. However, Berners-Lee’s boss said that it sounded exciting but impossible. Even though there were many difficulties and few supporters, Berners-Lee went on to develop the World Wide Web. He came up with ideas such as Hyper-text Transfer Protocol(超文本传输协 议) to allow computers to talk to each other, Hyper-text Markup Language (HTML)to create the pages, a server to serve the pages, and a browser(浏览器) to see them. In December 1990, the World Wide Web was demonstrated(展示)and in 1991, the WWW project was made public, so that other programmers could develop their own browsers. Berners-Lee believed that it could be used for more than scientific purposes. He wanted the Internet to be easy for anyone to use — a free open software. His wishes soon came true. Although the World Wide Web has today turned into a completely different thing from what it meant at first, it has become necessary and important to our lives, powering our mobile technologies and the way we get information. 41. The World Wide Web was created to _______. A. help people get information easily and quickly B. support the development of mobile technologies C. make it easier for British scientists to communicate D. improve communication between scientists at CERN 42. As for Berners-Lee’s paper, his boss ________. A. felt puzzled about it B. was uncertain about it C. had no confidence in it D. showed no interest in it 43. According to the text, Berners-Lee ________ A. doesn’t give up easily when in trouble B. has worked at CERN for 25 years C. is a 55-year-old Swiss physicist D. knows little about the Internet 44. The underlined words “it” in paragraph 5 refers to ______. A. a server B. a browser C. HTML D. the World Wide Web 45. What would be the best title for the text? A. The future of the Web B. World Wide Web turns 25 C. Tips on improving your website D. Interview with Tim Berners-Lee C A few months ago as I wandered through my parents’ house, the same house I grew up in, I had a sudden, scary realization. When my parents bought the house, in 1982, they were only two years older than I am now. I tried to imagine myself in two years, ready to settle down and buy the house. I’d still be living in almost 30 years later. It seemed ridiculous. On a practical level, there’s no way I could afford to buy a house anytime soon. More importantly, I wouldn’t want to. I’m not sure where I’ll be living in two years, or what kind of job I’ll have. And I don’t think I’ll be ready to settle down and stay in one place. So this is probably the generation gap that divides my friends and me from our parents. When our parents were our age, they’d gotten their education, chosen a career, and were starting to settle into responsible adult lives. My friends and I—“Generation Y”—still aren’t sure what we want to do with our lives. Whatever we end up doing, we want to make sure we’re happy doing it. We’d rather take risks first, try out different jobs, and move from one city to another until we find our favorite place. We’d rather spend our money on travel than put it in a savings account. This casual attitude toward responsibility has caused some critics to call my generation “arrogant”, “impatient”, and “overprotected”. Some of these complaints have a point. As children we were encouraged to succeed in school, but also to have fun. We grew up in a world full of technological innovation: cellphones, the Internet, instant messaging, and video games. Our parents looked to rise vertically(垂直的)—staring at the bottom of the ladder and slowly making their way to the top, on the same track, often for the same company. That doesn’t apply to my generation. Because of that, it may take us longer than our parents to arrive at responsible, stable adulthood. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In our desire to find satisfaction, we will work harder, strive for ways to keep life interesting, and gain a broader set of experiences and knowledge than our parents’ generation did. 46. When the author walked through her parents’ house, she ______. A. was frightened that she had no idea what she wanted from life B. started to think about her own life C. realized I should buy a house D. wondered why her parents had settled down early 47. What is the main “generation gap” between the author and her friends and their parents according to the article? A. Their attitude toward high technology. B. Their ways of making their way to the top. C. Their attitude towards responsibility. D. Their ways of gaining experience. 48. Which of the following might the author agree with? A. It’s all right to try more before settling down. B. It’s better to take adult responsibility earlier. C. It involves too much effort to rise vertically. D. It’s ridiculous to call her generation “arrogant”. 49. What can we conclude from the article? A .The author is envious of her parents enjoying a big house at her age. B. Growing up in a hi-tech world makes “Generation Y” feel insecure about relationships. C. “Generation Y” people don’t want to grow up and love to be taken care of by their parents. D. The author wrote this article so that others would be able to understand her generation better. 50. What is the main theme of the article? A. The sudden realization of growing up. B. A comparison between lifestyles of generations. C. Criticisms of the young generation. D. The factors that have changed the young generation. D Sometimes you’ll hear people say that you can’t love others until you love yourself. Sometimes you’ll hear people say that you can’t expect someone else to love you until you love yourself. Either way, you’ve got to love yourself first and this can be tricky. Sure we all know that we’re the apple of our parents’ eyes, and that our Grandmas think we’re great talents and our Uncle Roberts think that we will go to the Olympics, but sometimes it’s a lot harder to think such nice thoughts about ourselves. If you find that believing in yourself is a challenge, it is time that you built a positive self-image and learn to love yourself. Self-image is your own mind’s picture of yourself. This image includes the way you look, the way you act, the way you talk and the way you think. Interestingly, our self-images are often quite different from the images others hold about us. Unfortunately, most of these images are more negative than they should be. Thus changing the way you think about yourself is the key to changing your self-image and your whole world. The best way to defeat a passive self-image is to step back and decide to stress your successes. That is, make a list if you need to, but write down all of the great things you do every day. Don’t allow doubts to occur in it. It very well might be that you are having a negative self-image because you can’t move past one weakness that you see about yourself. Well, roll up your sleeves(卷起你的袖子) and make a change of it as your primary task. If you think you’re silly because you aren’t good at math, find a tutor(家教). If you think you’re weak because you can’t run a mile, get to the track and practice. If you think you’re dull because you don’t wear the latest trends, buy a few new clothes. But remember, just because you think it doesn’t mean it’s true. The best way to get rid of a negative self-image is to realize that your image is far from objective, and to actively convince yourself of your positive qualities. Changing the way you think and working on those you need to improve will go a long way towards promoting a positive self-image. When you can pat(拍) yourself on the back, you’ll know you’re well on your way. Good luck! 51. You need to build a positive self-image when you ________. A. dare to challenge yourself B. feel it hard to change yourself C. are unconfident about yourself D. have a high opinion of yourself 52. According to the passage, our self-image ________. A. have positive effects B. are probably untrue C. are often changeable D. have different functions 53. How should you change your self-image according to the passage? A. To keep a different image of others B. To make your life successful. C. To understand your own world. D. To change the way you think. 54. What is the passage mainly about? A. How to prepare for your success. B. How to face challenges in your life. C. How to build a positive self-image. D. How to develop your good qualities. 55. Who are the intended readers of the passage? A. Adolescents. B. Parents. C. Educators. D. People in general. 第 II 卷(非选择题) 第三部分:写作(提高题) 第一节: 阅读表达(共 5 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分) You may have heard of Steph Curry, a guard for the Golden State Warriors. Many people think he is the best shooter that ever played the sport. Last year, he was the National Basketball Association's (NBA) most valuable player and led his team to the Championship. How did he get to this point? Although his dad was an NBA player himself, Steph didn't start off with much. When he was young , all he had to practice with was an old basketball hoop ( 篮筐 ) that his grandfather had placed many years before. He learned to dribble(运球)over rocks , gravel and potholes. As he grew older, he had other problems, including his size. When it came to basketball, he was always the smallest kid on his team . He had a terrible shot from the time when he was 14,because he wasn't strong enough to shoot over his head. Even when he got to high school, he wasn’t ranked. Steph didn't give up because he had a passion about basketball and also because he believed in himself. He thought he would succeed one day as long as he kept practicing. He played day and night, practicing as hard as he could year after year. After he became a famous player, he once said , “If you take time to realize what your dream is and what you really want in life----no matter what it is, whether it's sports or in other fields----you have to realize that there is always work to do. Be the hardest working person in whatever you do. In this way, you put yourself in a position to be successful.” Don't think you can't make your dream come true, but think if you’ve tried hard enough. 56. What is Steph Curry? I’m Li Hua from Class3, Grade2. It is an honor for me to deliver a speech “How to make friends easily”. According to a survey, some students can’t get along well with others and often feel lonely. It’s difficult for them to make friends with others. Now I want to put forward some ways of dealing with it. To make friends, first of all, you should be honest, generous and considerate. In my opinion, they are the basic qualities that appeal to a good friend. In addition, you are supposed to open up your mind and share your happiness and sorrow with others, thus attracting those who have something in common with you. Therefore, you will possibly develop a friendship. Thirdly, what matters most is to apologize and forgive your friend whenever there is any misunderstanding between you. Finally, as far as I’m concerned , to make your friendship last longer, you must learn to treat your friend the way you want to be treated. That’s all. Thank you. 第四部分: 听力理解: (满分 30 分, 每小题 1.5 分) (对应答题卡 56-75 位置) 1-5 CACBB 6-10 BACBC 11-15 ACACA 16-20 ACCBA
