Loving yourself is mainly having self-respect,which is the only dependable way to create love in your own life,so you can share it with others. To be able to be loved, you must love and respect yourself as much as you do others. By doing so,you are enabling positive energy and allowing for great situation to occur in your life. Bringing joy to other people’s lives will help you find joy in your own. In addition, those whom you treat well will likely repay you with the same kindness. Gradually, you will start to feel your worth through the smiles of gratitude(感激). However, don’t just be very kind to people so you can receive royal treatment. Don’t punish yourself for something you have done in the past. Instead, look at the mistake as a learning experience. Say to yourself now,“I forgive myself for..." Go look in a mirror, and say it out loud to yourself. Look yourself right in the eyes, and speak forgiveness like you mean it. If you do,laugh out loud, realizing that was then and this is now. Every day is a new beginning. We all want a nice house, nice things, and someone to share our life with. Find your true wants objectively. Are you eager for power, a religion,or simply a motive? Sometimes,it’s easier to hide the truth from yourself, but figuring out what you really want will help you know yourself better. This will hopefully aid you in answering important questions you often ask yourself. Write about your experiences, good and bad. When you write down good experiences, allow yourself to feel those feelings. When you remember bad experiences, allow yourself to feel self- compassion(自我同情). Compassion is not self-pity, but rather a willingness to accept one's own pain and regret. Compassion allows us to be present with our pain,so we can acknowledge it and let it go. 28. I was pretty shocked when I first stepped onto the campus. Well, it’s not even really a campus. It’s more like a district in a small town. Harvard’s main buildings are from the 18th century. They look very old and simple. You might even say they’re a little shabby. They don’t fit the modern idea of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by grass and trees, so I felt as if I had walked into a medieval castle. But when I looked across the street, busy shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century again. It creates a strong contrast and brings a special atmosphere to the school. Our tour guide Gary took us around and told us: "You see this grass field in the center of the school? Here is where they host their graduation ceremony. They just set up tents and benches and have a very simple ceremony. Unbelievable! Who would think the most talented students just graduate on the lawn? I saw some students put a blanket on the grass and lie down to read a book. When I listened to the soft sound of pages turning, along with chirping of the birds, I felt very calm. There was no competitive feeling at all. Harvard has the world’s first computer in its science center and there are hundreds of high-end computers too. Its religion and the literature departments are also among the best. It is the perfect mix of tradition and new technology. It makes Harvard a very attractive place to study in. I hope one day I’ll attend my dream school—Harvard. 32. The article is mainly about . A. the author’s campus life in Harvard B. Harvard’s old buildings C. the author’s impression of Harvard D. the academic system at Harvard 33. What can we conclude from the article? A. Harvard campus is actually a district of a big city. B. There are no competitions at Harvard University. C. Graduation ceremonies are not complex at Harvard. D. All Harvard buildings date back to the 18th century. 34. According to the article, in which fields is Harvard top in the world? A. Literature, arts, and computer science. B. Religion, law and literature. C. Literature, law and computer science. D. Religion, computer science and literature. 35. Which word can be used to describe the Harvard campus? I didn’t think she was interested in flowers. M: I thought she’d like it — to give her some good ideas for the garden. W: I thought you were going to get those gloves I showed you in that shop last Saturday. (Text 6) W: Here they come, Steve. It’s the final 50 metres. M: Yes, and Ricky Evans is in the lead.
