Liao has been reporting the disease by visiting hospitals and local communities for months. “My colleagues call me ‘the iron lady’,” she said. “For reporters, regardless of gender, it’s our responsibility and duty to go to the core infection zones and listen to people’s stories.”‎ That sense of mission can’t be stopped. Zhan Song, a Changjiang Daily reporter, has been reporting in Wuhan. “If I do get infected someday, I think I’ll start livestreaming (直播) interviews at whichever hospital I may land in and report about patients’ lives there,” he said.‎ Reporters outside Wuhan may not face the same level of risk, but they are also doing whatever they can to get to the center of the news. Li Xueqing, for example, is a China Daily reporter, based in New York. She wrote a story about a group of Wuhan University schoolmates in New York who volunteered to donate medical equipment to hospitals in Wuhan. She thought about doing the interview over the phone, but she changed her mind.‎ ‎“Anyone from inside China can do a phone interview,” said Li. “That’s not why I’m here.” So she started to tag along with the volunteers, watching them do everything – from staying up late contacting the suppliers to dealing with piles of shipping paperwork. “After the story was published online, I saw a comment below that said, ‘Thank you for letting me see all the details behind the scenes.’ I knew it was all worth it,” said Li.‎ As medical workers continue to fight on the front line, we must remember the ones who also risk their lives to deliver our daily news: the media.‎ 3. They went to Wuhan to report the outbreak.‎ B. They have fulfilled their professional responsibilities.‎ C. They got infected while they were reporting on the disease.‎ D. It was particularly high up, but I thought removing it would take no more than 5 minutes. An hour later, the bee still remained. All that had changed was that the living room was a mess and that I was dizzy from looking up into the sunlight. I didn’t expect to waste an hour on an insect so tiny, but by doing so, I understood what my grandfather meant.‎ It is not only time that we tend to underestimate – we don’t account for unexpected costs. We often imagine what can work in our favor, but we seldom think of all the negative things that can affect us. However, it is important to remember that your day or week or year may not go as planned, and that is completely normal. It is perfectly acceptable to feel challenged – even at a task you thought was simple – because that is part of life.‎ If you accept that nothing will ever be easy, then life may seem slightly more manageable. In middle school, I thought high school might be easier because I could choose the classes I wanted to take. In high school, I thought college might be easier because I could have a schedule best suited for myself. Yet each time, I was both wrong and disappointed. After accepting that school wouldn’t be easy, I found myself with a more positive attitude and improved results.‎ Of course, there should be preparations made to account for expenses or time. Doing so can help you achieve your goals in a better way. However, there is no need to beat ourselves up when something stands in our path. Maybe we cannot see the bee coming our way, but we can always give ourselves extra time to catch it.‎ 4. Why did the author mention his experience of removing a bee?‎ A. To show the unexpected costs it caused.‎ B. To share something unforgettable with us.‎ C. To tell us how easy it is to waste our time.‎ D. To lead us to what the author learned from it.‎ 2. Why do things often turn out to be different from what we expect?‎ A. Unexpected things can happen.‎ B. It is quite easy to feel challenged.‎ C. We don’t often take time seriously.‎ D. We haven’t enough energy to control them.‎ 3. Why does the author mention the bee once again in the end?‎ A. To show how upsetting it is.‎ B. To link back to the beginning.‎ C. To warn us to catch it anyhow.‎ D. To use it as a reminder of valuing time.‎ 4. What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage?‎ A. To encourage us to make more efforts.‎ B. To persuade us not to expect things to be easy.‎ C. To explain how to make preparations for the bad.‎ D. To tell us what to do when something gets in our way.‎ D Year 2020 seems to be the year of healthy eating. People are choosing to follow a vegetarian diet, and some have even given up animal products entirely.‎ But Joe Rogan, the most popular podcast host in the US, was against this trend and called January 2020 “world carnivore ( 食 肉 动 物 ) month”. In his recent podcast, he reviewed his experience with “the carnivore diet”. Starting in January, he ate only meat for 30 days without any vegetables or fruit.‎ The podcaster tried the diet after the famous psychologist Jordan Peterson claimed that the diet could promote energy levels and mental health, according to Business Insider.‎ Rising to the challenge, Rogan posted regular updates about his diet on the popular social platform Instagram. With the average day consisting of just 2 meals, breakfast would be 6 eggs or a steak, and dinner would include either another steak, such as beef, fish or liver.‎ After 30 days, Rogan said he felt amazed. He also wrote, “I lost 12 pounds. Lots of pains went away. My energy is constant, and I have improvements in my stomachache. I went into this thing, thinking that this carnivore diet was kind of strange, but this is as good as I’ve felt in a long time.”‎ It has positive results, but some have pointed out the diet’s limitation. Speaking to CNBC, Linda Horn, a health expert at Northwestern University, said that studies show that a high-quality diet with a variety of nutrients is connected with “a better quality of life, long life and reduced risk of chronic (慢性的) diseases”. She added that the energy people claim to feel from the carnivore diet is probably not because of the meat. Instead, she said kicking carbohydrates (碳水化合物) and sugar causes weight loss and it makes people feel better.‎ While the carnivore diet may offer you some benefits, eating a balanced diet will afford you more health benefits than consuming a single food group, according to Healthline.‎ 1. How did Rogan respond to the vegetarian trend?‎ A. He helped promote it on his podcast.‎ B. He gave up animal products entirely.‎ C. He started to eat only meat for 30 days.‎ D. He suggested a “world carnivore month”.‎ 2. What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?‎ A. How Rogan benefited from the carnivore diet.‎ B. Why Rogan tried the carnivore diet at the beginning.‎ C. How the carnivore diet helped people improve their health.‎ D. Why Rogan kept posting updates about his diet on Instagram.‎ 3. Why do people feel better from the carnivore diet according to Linda Horn?‎ A. They get more and more energy from it.‎ B. The diet helps them reduce their aches and pains.‎ C. The meat in the diet improves their mental health.‎ D. They lose weight without taking carbohydrates and sugar.‎ 4. What can be concluded from the passage?‎ A. Keeping a balanced diet is still a wise choice.‎ B. The carnivore diet has become a trend in 2020.‎ C. Further studies will be completed on the carnivore diet.‎ D. The carnivore diet is more beneficial than a vegetarian diet.‎ 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ If you carry burdens all the time, soon you won’t be able to carry on.
