Your dog can get jealous when you pay attention to other dogs, other people or even other things. Dogs have complex emotions such as jealousy (嫉妒) and pride, according to a ‎ scientific research that throws new light on their relations with  humans .‎ Animal psychologists once believed most animals didn’t have the " sense of self", which is needed to experience secondary feelings such as  jealousy, embarrassment or guilt. These feelings are more complex than immediate reactions such as anger or joy.‎ Professor‎ Friederike Range, from the University‎ of ‎Vienna, has shown that dogs are jealous when they feel unfairly treated compared to other dogs. "Dogs show a strong reaction to inequity (不公平)," she said. "If one dog gets something, you'd better believe another will  demand something as well."‎ But, her study points out that it doesn't matter if one gets a better treat and only that the distribution is  fair.‎ The dog study is the latest into several species, including cows, horses, cats and sheep, which have ‎ shown that animals are far more self-aware than  they were thought.‎ Paul Morris, a psychologist at the University‎ of ‎Portsmouth who studies animal feelings, told The Sunday Times:"We are learning that dogs, horses, and perhaps many other species are far more emotionally complex than we ever realized. They can  suffer simple forms of many feelings we once thought only primates (灵长类) could experience."‎ In research among  dog owners, Morris found almost all of them reported  jealous behavior by their pets. The dog often tried to get their owner away from a new lover in the early days of a relationship.‎ Behavior experts suggest owners keep their dogs  away as much as possible from a new partner or child . This helps to  prevent jealous activity of the dog such as interruptions with barking or whining  (哀嚎).‎ ‎25. The underlined word “complex” in the second paragraph means ______.‎ A. 困难的 B. 复杂的 C. 积极的 D.容易的 ‎26. What can we learn from Paragraph 2?‎ A. Only advanced animals have complex feeling.‎ B. Most animals don’t have the sense of self.‎ C. Experts used to believe that most animals were without complex emotions.‎ D. The best way to prevent jealousy is to treat all the animals fairly.‎ ‎27. Which of the following is most likely to be true?‎ A. The owner of the dog can do what he likes without considering the feeling of dogs. ‎ B. Dogs will get jealous if they find they are treated unfairly.‎ C. The study have  shown animals are as self-aware as we thought.‎ D. The best way to prevent dog’s jealous activity is to give whatever they like to eat.‎ ‎28. What’s the best title for this passage?‎ A. Animals Have Complex Feelings. ‎ B. A New Research. ‎ C. How to Prevent Jealous Activity from a Dog.‎ D. Dogs Can Be Jealous.‎ C Cheating can happen in a lot of different ways. When people cheat, it's not fair to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who were the true winners of a game.‎ Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting all the right answers on the test. But it doesn't solve the problem of not knowing the material and it won't help on the next test ---unless the person cheats again.‎ Some people lose respect for ch舒中高一统考英语 第3页 (共8页)‎ eaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves may feel bad because they know they are not really earning that good grade. And, if they get caught cheating, they will be in trouble at school, and maybe at home, too.‎ Some kids cheat because they're busy or lazy and they want to get good grades without spending the time studying. Other kids might feel like they can't pass the test without cheating. Even when there seems to be a "good reason" for cheating, cheating isn't a good idea.‎ If you were sick or upset about something the night before and couldn't study, it would be better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don't have enough time to study for a test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to balance swimming and school.‎ A kid who thinks cheating is the only way to pass a test needs to talk with the teacher and his or her parents so they can find some solutions together. Talking about these problems and working them out will feel better than cheating.‎ ‎29.The author thinks that when kids cheat in class,______.‎ A. teachers should punish them ‎ B. it does harm to their heath C. it is unfair to other people ‎ D. teachers shouldn't stop them at once ‎30. Some students like cheating mainly because_______.‎ A. cheating can make hard things seem very easy B. they want to do better than the others C. the material in the test is very difficult D. they have little time to study their lessons ‎31. In the passage those cheaters are advised to_______.‎ A. spend more time on school than on sports ‎ B. find good solutions instead of cheating C. try hard to be intelligent rather than lazy ‎ D. ask their classmates for good methods of study D Forgiving someone who has hurt you or let you down is never an easy thing. Several new studies, however, say that it could have a lot of health benefits. When you think of forgiveness, you probably don’t think of it as being a health or medical problem. Studies from Stanford‎ ‎University, on the other hand, show that something like anger can change your well-being.‎ ‎ When cartoon book characters like the Incredible Hulk get angry, they change colors and often gain special power. In the real world, anger is less obvious and may be more dangerous. That’s why Professor Fred Luskin, founder of the Stanford Forgiveness Project and author of Forgive for Good, says holding on to anger and hatred(厌恶)can harm your physical and mental health. Two new studies seem to show the same idea. The studies find that people who are able to forgive feel less stress, less back pain, and less depression. They also have fewer headaches, lower blood pressure and fewer problems on sleeping. ‎ ‎ So it doesn’t matter if your anger is caused by the traffic or other things. Learning to let it go is important. Techniques such as deep breath or thought can help. Or just ask yourself if it’s worth hurting yourself by staying angry with someone else.‎ ‎ Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you simply accept what happened and say it’s OK. Instead, it’s a way of making peace with yourself about what happened in the past.‎ ‎32. The author of the passage tries to make his view clear ________.‎ A. by raising his own examples B. by mentioning some studies C. by mentioning some patients D. based on his own experience ‎33. The example of the cartoon book characters in the passage is taken to ____________.‎ A. show how to control one’s temper B. introduce a famous expert.‎ C. let the readers know the different colors of cartoon faces D. support the view that anger and hatred harm your physical and mental health ‎34. The underlined phrase “holding on to” in the passage possibly means_________.‎ A taking away B. taking charge of C. keeping up D. learning about ‎35. The best title for this passage is probably _______.‎ A. Forgiveness Is Good for Health B. Forgiveness C. A Secret to Keeping Healthy D. Anger Is Bad for Health 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to Be Good at Sports If sports are something that interests you, it stands to reason that you would want to be good at them.
