Now a new tool that can be connected to any object you might lose may be the way to solve your problem. The Tile, a small square connected to your iPhone or iPad by means of Bluetooth, allows you to see how close you are to your missing item, within a 50-to-150-foot range (范围). If the item goes out of your phone's 150-foot range, it can still be found on other smart phones with the same app. When you drive the app on your phone, it shows you, with green bars that increase or decrease, how close or far away you are from the Tile. You can also program it to make a sound when you get close to the Tile. And you can connect your phone with up to ten Tiles. And if your lost object—a dog, for example, or a stolen bike—go out of your own phone's 150-foot Bluetooth range, you can set it as a “lost item”. If any of the phones with the Tile app comes within range of your lost item, a message will be sent to your phone, telling you its position. The Tile app also has the ability to remember where it last saw your Tile, so that you can easily find where you left it. Since the Tiles use Bluetooth rather than GPS, they are never out of battery or needn't to be charged, and they work for one year before needing to be replaced. And the app works with all generations of iPhones and iPads. For further information, please visit www.tile666.com. 21.What can the Tile app help you? A.To find other phone users. B.To find your missing items ‎. C.To save your phone's power. D.To use your phone more wisely. 22.Which of the following about the Tile is TRUE? A.The Tile needs to be charged after a year of use. B.One smart phone can only be linked up with one Tile. C.The Tile app can send a message, but it can't make a sound. D.The Tile cannot be connected with a phone without Bluetooth. 23.What does the second paragraph mainly tell us? A.What the Tile app is. B.How the Tile app works. C.Why the Tile app was created. D.The advantages of the Tile app. 24.Where does the passage probably come from? A.A health report. B.A personal diary. C.An advertisement. D.A tourism magazine.‎ B Nuclear power's danger to health, safety, and even life itself can be summed up in one word: radiation. Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. It can't be seen or heard, or touched or tasted, even though it may be all around us. There are other things like that. For example, radio waves are all around us but we can't detect them, sense them, without a radio receiver. Similarly, we can't sense radioactivity without a radiation detector. But unlike common radio waves, nuclear radiation is not harmless to human beings and other living things. At very high levels, radiation can kill an animal or human being immediately by killing masses of cells in vital organs. But even the lowest levels can do serious damage. There is no levels of radiation that is completely safe. If the radiation does not hit anything important, the damage may not be serious. This is the case when only a few cells are hit, and if they are killed immediately. Your body will replace the dead cells with healthy ones. But if the few cells are only ‎ damaged, and if they reproduce themselves, you may be in trouble. They can grow into cancer. Sometimes this does not show up for many years. This is another reason for some of the mystery about nuclear radiation. Serious damage can be done without the victim being aware at the time that damage has occurred. A person can be irradiated(辐射)and feel fine, then die for cancer five, ten, or twenty years later as a result. Or a child can be born weak as a result of radiation absorbed by its grandparents. Radiation can hurt us. We must know the truth. 25.Which of the following statements is true? A.Nuclear radiation is just like common radio waves. B.Nuclear radiation can cause cancer to human beings. C.Nuclear radiation can be detected by human senses. D.Nuclear radiation can be safe to human beings if its level is low. 26.How can nuclear radiation kill an animal? A.By damaging its heart. B.By killing a few cells. C.By hitting any place in its body. D.By killing many cells in important organs. 27.If a human being is hit by nuclear radiation, he may __________. A.die of cancer after many years B.die immediately C.have a child who may be born weak D.all of the above C Australian cities can keep their native wildlife — but only if they can kick their habit of urban sprawl (扩展). That's the finding of a new study by leading Australian environmental researchers Jessica Sushinsky, Professor Hugh Possingham and Dr. Richard Fuller of The University of Queensland.“While urban development usually reduces the number of birds in a city, building more compact (紧凑的) cities and avoiding urban sprawl can slow these reductions greatly,” says lead author Jessica ‎ Sushinsky. “Compact housing development leaves birds' homes untouched, leading to fewer losses of birds.”The researchers surveyed native and wild birds in Brisbane's urban areas, including living and industrial areas, public parks and gardens, major roadways and airports. They then used statistical modeling to find out what will happen to the birds as the city grows. The first setting was compact growth — where multiple homes are built on land that previously had only one house. The second setting was sprawling growth — a familiar pattern where homes are built here and there beyond the city's current boundaries. The team's forecasts showed that a much greater diversity of species was lost over 20 years in the sprawling setting compared to the more compact setting. “Urban sprawl resulted in the disappearance of many urban-sensitive birds — birds that only live in areas where there is native vegetation (植被), such as parklands and woodlands,” Ms. Sushinsky says.“On the other hand, we found the city with the compact development attracted more birds because it kept more of its parks and green areas.”Now the Queensland Government has adopted the more compact urban growth strategy, which, Dr. Richard Fuller says, is good news for Australia's native birds. These birds are environmental specialists — they need a particular environment to do well. “While compact development means smaller backyards, it can also make our entire cities more biodiverse,” according to Dr. Fuller. “The study shows that we should hold on to our green spaces instead of clearing them for sprawling development.”This is the first time science has modeled the effects of different urban growth strategies on birds, the researchers say. “Statistical models like these are important because they help us to understand the ecological consequences of a particular decision,” says Dr Fuller.‎ ‎28.Why is compact urban growth better than the sprawling strategy?‎ A.It makes the cities more beautiful. B.It gives people larger backyards.‎ C.It is money-saving. D.It is bird-friendly. 29.Dr Richard Fuller thinks the Queensland Government's action ______. A.is really brave B.is ‎ worth praising C.has an uncertain future D.should be performed nationwide 30.What can we learn about the study from the passage? A.It is based on the statistics in the past. B.It is strongly against urban development. C.It criticizes the city environment in Brisbane. D.It suggests leaving more green spaces for birds. 31.Where does the passage probably come from? A.A news report. B.A travel guide. C.A health magazine. D.A history book.‎ D Last summer my daughter’s school was blown up. No students were harmed, but the main building was completely destroyed, as well as the nearby dorms.‎ Before you start trying to ask when this horrible act took place on U. S. soil, I should mention that this attack didn’t happen in reality, rather in my daughter’s carefully constructed Minecraft world. During an online journey with a few friends, a stranger came to her school and bombed the school she had carefully built. In a minute, her school was ruined. Sure, no actual property(财产)was damaged. But the emotional pain she felt was very much real. She thought this was a form of terrorism.‎ I shared this act of absurd online violence on my Facebook page, and fellow parents with Minecraft-loving children were just as shocked as I was. I had thought this was a unique experience, and my daughter was just unlucky that this happened to her. But, as it turned out, she was far from alone. The acts were performed by computer bullies(暴徒) known as “griefers”. The platform that my daughter was playing was the Minecraft: Pocket Edition(PE)version, which is popular with younger players. While she once only played in creative mode(模式), she began to play in the multi-player mode so that she and a few friends from school could build and create together. That multi-player choice made it possible for a stranger, one of these “griefers”, to do damage.‎ It was a painful lesson for my daughter that dangers happened suddenly. She understood we have to protect ourselves from bad people in the real world. Still, there was some goodness that came out of the ruins. Many fellow players of hers took the time to help her rebuild her school, which has been set up again. She is moved. Also, this experience opened her eyes.‎ ‎32.What was the result of the daughter’s school being blown up?‎ A. All the buildings but the dorms were ruined.‎ B. Many students were seriously injured.‎ C. Money needed to be seriously injured.‎ D. The author’s daughter felt hurt a lot.‎ ‎33.Before talking to other parents about the attack the author had thought that .‎ A. her daughter should be blamed for it B. this attack was just a rare incident C. danger happened all of a sudden on the Internet D. her daughter was too lonely ‎34.Which of the following is NOT true about the “griefers”?‎ A. They can help players build and create a new world.‎ B. They are performed by computer bullies.‎ C. They are likely to cause damage in the multi-player mode.‎ D. They disturb and cause sadness to game players.‎ ‎35.What did her daughter do after the incident?‎ A. Quit playing Minecraft.‎ B. Gave up multi-player mode.‎ C. Learned to defend herself against bad people.‎ D. Decided to rebuild her school independently.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to Have a Successful Teenage Life Everyone wants to succeed in their life, don’t they?
