2017-2018学年新疆阿克苏市高二上学期第一次月考英语试题
新疆阿克苏市2017-2018学年高二英语上学期第一次月考试题 第Ⅰ卷(选择题 共100分) 一、 阅读理解 第一节 (共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分) A The Chinese word "Shanzhai" means a small mountain village, but now it becomes an accepted name for fakes (假货), after "Shanzhai Cell-phones" produced by small workshops in southern China became popular in the mainland market over the past two years. Besides (除……之外,还有)"Shanzhai"electronic products, there are "Shanzhai" movies, "Shanzhai" stars and even a "Shanzhai" Spring Festival Gala, a copy of the 25-year-old traditional show presented by CCTV on Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve. "Shanzhai" has become a culture of its own, meaning anything that imitates something famous. In Chongqing, "Shanzhai" version "Bird's Nest(鸟巢)" and "Water Cube(水立方)" woven by farmers with bamboo attract(吸引) wide attention from tourists. Both are copies of the famous Olympic buildings in Beijing. A literature critic said that taking the "Shanzhai" Gala as an example, when the traditional CCTV program becomes less and less attractive to the audience, the "Shanzhai" version appears timely to attract people. "Although it is often connected with poor techniques and operation, 'Shanzhai' culture meets the psychological needs of common people and could be a comfort to their minds," he said. To the mainstream(主流) culture, the rise of "Shanzhai" culture is a challenge and a motivation(推动). People believe different kinds of cultures developing together is a perfect way and it is for the public to choose. 1.The Chinese word "Shanzhai" may have started with_______. A. fake(假的) cell-phones B. electronic products C. Spring Festival Gala D. Olympic buildings 2.According to the passage, "Shanzhai" culture means_______. A. the action that a person imitates famous people B. products with poor techniques and quality C. anything that are copies of something famous D. those similar names to famous brands 3.We can infer that the mainstream culture_______. A. is held back by "Shanzhai" culture B. is the challenge of"Shanzhai" culture C. will be replaced by "Shanzhai" culture D. may develop faster because of the challenge of "Shanzhai" culture 4.The underlined word "imitates" is closest in meaning to_______. A. 偷窃 B. 仿造C. 做广告 D. 欺骗 B Are some people born clever, and others born stupid? Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experience? Strangely enough, the answer to these questions is yes. To some extent our intelligence is given to us at birth, and no amount of education can make a genius out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surroundings. While the limits of a person’s intelligence are fixed at birth, whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supported in a number of ways. It is easy to show that intelligence is to some extent something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random(随机地) from population, it is likely that their degrees of intelligence will be completely different. If, on the other hand, we take two identical twins, they will very likely be as intelligent as each other. Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth. Imagine now that we take two identical twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the work is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this indicates that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all are likely to have similar degrees of intelligence. 5.Which best describes the writer’s point in Para.1? A. Intelligence is given at birth. B. Intelligence is developed by the environment. C. Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is developed by the environment. D. Some people are born clever and others born stupid. 6.It is suggested in this passage that __________. A. close relations usually have similar intelligence B. unrelated people are not likely to have similar intelligence C. the closer the blood relationship between people, the more different they are likely to be in intelligence D. people who live in close contact with each other are not likely to have similar degrees of intelligence 7.The example of the twins going to a university and to a factory separately shows_________. A. the importance of their intelligence B. the effect of environment on intelligence C. the importance of their positions D. the part that birth plays 8.The best title for this article would be “_____________”. A. On Intelligence B. What Intelligence Means C. Born with Intelligence D. Environment Decides Intelligence C Drinking can make teens feel good, but that lasts only a short time. Alcohol clouds your brain and limits your ability to make decisions. Excessive drinking gradually makes your brain shrink and can cause serious damage. Over-drinking can cause learning disabilities and damage your memory. It distorts your vision and leads to blackouts. Teenagers often think that drinking will give you more energy, but alcohol isn’t an energy drink; it’s a depressant. Drinking and driving is one of the top causes of death for teen boys. An alcohol-related motor vehicle crash kills one person every 33 minutes and injures someone every two minutes. The rate of teenagers driving drunk is so high that the government is trying to pass new laws restricting(限制) teen driving. When we get to high school, friends start pressuring us to drink. High school students see alcohol a way to become popular. I created a survey at my school. Twenty-four of the 63 respondents predicted they would drink in high school. Eleven said maybe, and 28 said they don’t plan on drinking. Regardless of what they say now, things can change. Teens starting high school want to fit in. Some people will do anything to be accepted, including potentially hurting themselves. They think that one drink won’t do anything. A little bit of alcohol probably won’t kill you, but it can lead to poor decisions. High school is the time to experiment with what you want to do in life, but if you’re experimenting with alcohol you could hurt someone, including yourself. 9.The government is passing laws to restrict teen driving because _________. A. Teens’ drunk driving cause deaths easily B. Many teens like driving C. Alcohol weakens the driving skills of teens D. Most teens are poor in driving skills 10.Some students in high school start drinking mainly because _________. A. They think drinking is quite interesting B. They want to fit in with the surroundings C. They want to imitate adults around them D. They don’t think high school an important period 11.Which of the following statements is true according to the passage? A. Most teens in high schools like drinking B. Teens who drink are mostly forced to do so C. One little sip of alcohol ruins one’s memory D. The start of drinking potentially damages one’s life 12.We may infer from the passage that __________. A. Drinking can make teens feel good for a long time. B. Drinking is becoming very common in high schools. C. Surrounding people and environment affects teens in drinking. D. Drinking is bad to one’s brain but good to one’s body. D A few years ago, I took a sightseeing trip to Washington D.C. I saw many of our nation’s treasures, and I also saw a lot of unfortunate people like beggars and homeless folks(人们)in the streets. Standing outside the Ronald Reagan Center, I heard a voice say,“Can you help me?”When I turned around, I saw an elderly blind woman with her hand extended(伸出). In a natural reaction, I reached into my pocket, pulled out all of my loose change and placed it in her hand. I didn’t even look at her. I was annoyed(生气) at being bothered(烦) by a beggar. But the blind woman smiled and said, “I don’t want your money. I just need help finding the post office.” Immediately, I realized what I had done. I acted with prejudice(偏见)—I judged another person simply for what I thought she was. The thing I had forgotten about myself is that I am an immigrant. I left Honduras and arrived in America at the age of 15. Through the years, I have been a dishwasher, cashier, mechanic and pizza delivery driver among many other jobs, and finally I became a network engineer. In my own life, I have experienced many open acts of prejudice. I remember a time, at age 17— I was a busboy, and I heard a father tell his little boy that if he did not do well at school, he would end up like me. But now, living in my American middle-class lifestyle, it is too easy to forget my past, to forget who I am and where I have been, and to lose sight of where I want to be going. That blind woman on the street of Washington D.C. cured(治愈) me of my blindness. She reminded me to always keep my eyes and heart open. 13.When the author came to America at first ______. A. he usually did some work with a little payment. B. he used to beg for some money on the street. C. he lived a comfortable life as a network engineer. D. he was respected by others all the time. 14.According to the passage, what did the author regret(后悔)? A. That he gave all his change to the blind woman. B. The way he treated the blind woman. C. That he came to Washington D.That he was blind. 15.We can infer all of the following statements from the passage EXCEPT ____. A. He disliked being bothered by beggars. B. He was delighted to give away his money to beggars. C. He once suffered a lot. D. The blind woman didn’t beg for money at that time. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白的最佳选项(请将该题答案涂在答题卡71-75选项处) How to change the world You want to change the world, but you aren’t sure where to start.
