Daylight Saving was first introduced during World War I in Australia. During the world wars, DST was used for the late summers beginning January 1917 and 1942, and the full summers beginning September 1942 and 1943.‎ In 1967, Tasmania experienced a drought (干旱). The State Government introduced one hour of daylight saving that summer as a way of saving power and water. Tasmanians liked the idea of daylight saving and the Tasmanian Government has declared daylight saving each summer since 1968. Persuaded by the Tasmanian Government, all states except two passed a law in 1971, for a test use of daylight saving. In 1972, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria joined Tasmania for regular daylight saving, but Queensland did not do so until 1989.‎ Tasmania, Queensland and South Australia have had irregular plans, often changing their dates due to politics or festivals . For example, in 1992, Tasmania extended (延长) daylight saving by an extra month while South Australia began extending daylight saving by two weeks for the Adelaide Festival. Special daylight saving plans were made during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.‎ The differences in daylight saving in Australia continue to cause serious problems in transport and many other social activities. It also reduces the number of hours in the working day that are common to all centers in the country. In particular, time differences along the east coast cause major difficulties, especially for the broadcasters of national radio and television.‎ ‎25. D.It lasts for two weeks.‎ C You can’t always predict a heavy rain or remember your umbrella. But designer Mikhail Belvacv doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. That’s why he created lampbrella, a lamp post with its own rain sensing umbrella. ‎ The designer says he came up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia. “once, I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street and saw the street lamps lighting up people trying to hide from the rain. I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy(伞蓬) built into a street lamp.” he said. ‎ The lampbrella is a standard-looking street lamp fitted with an umbrella canopy. It has a built-in electric motor which can open or close the umbrella on demand. Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining. ‎ In addition to the rain sensor, there’s also a 360°motion sensor on the biberglass street lamp which detects whether anyone’s using the lampbrella. After three minutes of not being used the canopy is closed. ‎ According to the designer, the lampbrella would move at a relatively low speed, so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians. Besides, it would be grounded to protect from possible lighting strike. Each lampbrella would offer enough shelter for several people. Being installed at 2 meters off the ground, it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians. ‎ While there are no plans to take lampbrella into production, Belyacv says he recently introduced his creation one Moscow Department, and insists this creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter. ‎ ‎28. For what purpose did Belyacv create the lampbrella?‎ A.To predict a heavy rain B.To check the weather forecast ‎ C.To protect people from the rain D.To remind people to take an umbrella ‎ ‎29. Which of the following shows how the lampbrella works?‎ A.motor→canopy→sensors B.sensors→motor→canopy ‎ C.motor→sensors→canopy D.canopy→motor→sensors ‎ ‎30. What does paragraph 5 mainly tell us about the lampbrella?‎ A.Its moving speed B.Its appearance ‎ C.Its installation D.Its safety ‎ ‎31.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?‎ A.The designer will open a company to promote his product ‎ B.The lampbrella could be put into immediate production ‎ C.The designer is confident that his creation is practical ‎ D.The lampbrella would be put on show in Moscow D You are given many opportunities in life to choose to be a victim or a creator. When you choose to be a victim, the world is a cold and difficult place. “They” did things to you which caused all of your pain and suffering. “They” are wrong and bad, and life is terrible as long as “they” are around. Or you may blame yourself for all your problems, thus internalizing(内化) your victimization. The truth is, your life is likely to stay that way as long as you feel a need to blame yourself or others. ‎ Those who choose to be creators look at life quite differently. They know there are individuals who might like to control their lives, but they don’t let this get in the way. They know they have their weaknesses, yet they don’t blame themselves when they fail. Whatever happens, they have choice in the matter. They believe their dance with each sacred(神圣的) moment of life is a gift and that storms are a natural part of life which can bring the rain needed for emotional and spiritual growth. ‎ Victims and creators live in the same physical world and deal with many of the same physical realities, yet their experience of life is worlds apart. Victims relish (沉溺) in anger, guilt, and other emotions that cause others—and even themselves—to feel like victims, too. Creators consciously choose love, inspiration, and other qualities which inspire not only themselves, but all around them. Both victims and creators always have choice to determine the direction of their lives. ‎ In reality, all of us play the victim or the creator at various points in our lives. One person, on losing a job or a special relationship, may feel as if it is the end of the world and sink into terrible suffering for months, years, or even a lifetime. Another with the same experience may choose to first experience the grief, then accept the loss and soon move on to be a powerful creative force in his life. ‎ In every moment and every circumstance, you can choose to have a fuller, richer life by setting a clear intention to transform the victim within, and by inviting into your life the powerful creator that you are. ‎ ‎32.What does the word “they” in Paragraph 1 probably refer to?‎ A.People and things around you. ‎ B.Opportunities and problems. ‎ C.Creators and their choices. ‎ D.Victims and their sufferings. ‎ ‎33.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?‎ A.Creators and victims face quite different things in life. ‎ B.Creators and victims are masters of their lives. ‎ C.Victims can influence more people than creators. ‎ D.Compared with victims, creators are more emotional. ‎ ‎34.The examples mentioned in Paragraph 4 show that __________.‎ A.strong attachment to sufferings in life pulls people into victims ‎ B.people need family support to deal with challengers in life ‎ C.it takes creators quite a long time to get rid of their pains ‎ D.one’s experiences determine his attitude toward life ‎ ‎35.What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage?‎ A.To define victims and creators. ‎ B.To evaluate victims against creators. ‎ C.To explain the relationship between victims and creators. ‎ D.To suggest the transformation from victims to creators.‎ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Make the right choices What is life's greatest gift? 36   Choice is the ability to select one course of action from a set of alternatives to achieve a goal. What is so great about choice? It transforms us from dumb animals into artists. Each of us becomes another Michelangelo. Choice becomes nothing other than the tool we use to sculpt(雕刻) our life. The tool doesn't come free, however, for the price of choice is responsibility. 37 The reward is happiness.‎ Life is not still. It is a flow. 38   We constantly need to monitor where we are on our journey. We need to ask questions:Am I moving closer to my goals? If not, what corrective measures can I take? What action will I take now to readjust myself to my goals? Choice is power. Choice is at the heart of life. It is the creative power of life.‎ ‎ 39   And your life becomes more convenient or comfortable because of them. For example, you decide which stores to shop at and which gas station to go to. But the decisions that we make to sculpt our life are far more important than deciding where to shop. The more we appreciate the difference between minor and major decisions, the greater the probability that we will experience happiness and fulfillment.‎ All chess lovers realize that it isn't necessary to win to enjoy the game. The pleasure is in the playing. Life is like a chess game.  40 ‎ A.It is free will or choice.‎ B.You have to make choices every day.‎ C.Make the best moves you can under the circumstances.‎ D.But when we accept and carry it out, we get a great return.‎ E.Every choice we make leads us closer to or farther from our goals.‎ F.Life is full of hard choices, and the bigger they are, the harder they get.‎ G.Choose to carry out responsibilities not because you have to, but because you want to.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题,每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。‎ Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in Italy. After climbing up a hill for a full view of the blue sea, I paused to catch my 41 and then positioned myself to take a photo.‎ Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind and 42 herself right in front of my 43 . Like me, she was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the scenery.‎ ‎ 44 as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would 45 take, I was upset. Should I ask her to 46 so that I could take just one picture of the landscape? Sure, I could have asked her, but something 47 me doing so. She seemed so 48 in her observation.I didn’t want to mess with that. ‎ Another 15 minutes passed and I grew more 49 . The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo 50 .And now when I look at it, I think her 51 in the photo is what makes the image 52 . The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes 53 this woman is engaging with it.‎ This photo, with the 54 beauty that unfolded before me and the woman who“ 55 ”it, now hangs on the wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured(捕捉)and 56 on a stranger’s bedroom wall? A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which a woman I don’t even know has been kept forever. In some ways, she has been 57 in my house.‎ Perhaps we all live in each other’s space. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to 58 us that we all appreciate beauty, and that we all share a common 59 for pleasure and connection.‎ This photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken 60 between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.‎ ‎41.A.sight B.breath C.way D.attention ‎42.A.planted B.found C.lost D.enjoyed ‎43.A.concern B.photo C.view D.direction ‎44.A.Cautious B.Curious C.Casual D.Patient ‎45.A.eventually B.randomly C.extremely D.hurriedly ‎46.A.back away B.go over C.move along D.stay out ‎47.A.caught B.sent C.got D.prevented ‎48.A.anxious B.content C.quiet D.confident ‎49.A.excited B.annoyed C.worried D.confused ‎50.A.anyway B.somehow C.instead D.indeed ‎51.A.beauty B.behavior C.determination D.presence ‎52.A.puzzling B.disappointing C.interesting D.boring ‎53.A.unless B.because C.although D.until ‎54.A.strange B.regrettable C.distant D.unique ‎55.A.ruined B.created C.missed D.discovered ‎56.A.protected B.observed C.frozen D.drawn ‎57.A.hanging B.living C.shining D.wandering ‎58.A.promise B.tell C.convince D.remind ‎59.A.respect B.plan C.desire D.sense ‎60.A.conversation B.result C.trust D.love 第II卷 第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)‎ 阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容或括号内单词的正确形式。(每空不多于3个单词。出现拼写、大小写、词性错误都不给分。)‎ Were you the first or the last child in your family? Or were you a middle or an only child? Some people think 61 matters where you were born in your family. But there are different ideas about what birth order means. Some people say that oldest children, 62 are smart and strong-willed, are very likely 63 (succeed). The reason 64 this is simple. Parents have a lot of time for their first child and give him or her a lot of attention. An only child will succeed for 65 same reason.‎ What happens to the 66 children in the family? Middle children don’t get so much attention, so they don’t feel that important. If a family has many children, the middle one sometimes gets lost in the crowd. The youngest child, 67 , often gets special treatment. Often this child grows up to be funny. But a recent study saw things quite 68 (difference). The study found that first children believed in family rules. They didn’t take many chances in 69 lives. They usually 70 (follow) orders. Rules didn’t mean as much to later children in the family. They took chances and they often did better in life.‎ 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分35分)‎ 第一节 短文改错(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)‎ 假定英语课上老师要求同桌之间交换修改作文,请你修改你同桌写的以下作文。 ‎ Mr. Johnson is a hardworking teacher.
