She never asks me for money, but always greets me with a smile.‎ ‎ I wrote in a Facebook post, “Each Tuesday, Amy simply says “Good morning, Sir, Have a great day”. and smiles. I wear a suit to work every day so I get asked for money quite often but never once from Amy Joe.”‎ ‎ Now I have lunch with Amy every Tuesday, during which I know how positive she is even though she really has nothing. Last week Amy dropped a bomb on me—she can’t read. Being unable to read, she said it was too difficult for her to find a job. She began to use her collected money to check out library books instead of buying food. This crushed me!‎ ‎ I have been blessed with a family that can provide me with anything that I needed. Amy Joe has not. So I started to teach her to read. I rent one library book a week and we read it together on Tuesday. She practices on her own throughout the rest of the week.‎ ‎ This post is in no way to make anyone feel sorry for Amy or show myself off for doing something good. I wanted to share this because this can lead to someone helping another person. There are a lot of people out there like Amy Joe, hungry, homeless, or hurt. Helping someone could be as easy as saying hello and smiling.‎ ‎21. Why do some people often ask the author for money?‎ A. Because he has a job with high pay. ‎ B. Because he is friendly to everyone he meets. ‎ C. Because he likes inviting the homeless to lunch.‎ D. Because his appearance makes him look like a rich man.‎ ‎22. How does the author help Amy?‎ A. He rents books to read with Amy.‎ B. He buys food for Amy and her family.‎ C. He provides her with whatever she needs. ‎ D. He teaches her to write down her own story.‎ ‎23. Why did the author post Amy’s story?‎ A. To make others feel sorry for Amy. B. To call on others to do good things. ‎ C. To raise more money for Amy. D.To praise himself.‎ B The listening skill is the key stone of developing interpersonal(人际的)relationships, but it is also one of the most ignored language skills in teaching environments. The lack of listening skills is a major challenge to children in the classroom. Then what can we do ?‎ l Teach them how to listen and show why it is necessary for good communication with others. Make it fun and try a new game:Tell them to talk, sit down and be quiet. Do it with them with about five seconds in between. Move it to 10 seconds and then 15. ‎ l Make another game out of it using a favorite doll. Storytelling is one of the best ways to practice this skill. Let the doll tell a story. Then let the children practice by holding the doll and let them tell a story. When you talk, show them how to pay attention and listen. When they talk, show them how you are quiet and pay attention. Take turns repeating the story to each other.‎ l Read to your child. Before you begin, tell the child you are going to zip(拉上拉链) their lips and then pretend(假装) to do it. Tell them you are going to lock the zipper and throw away the key. When they want to say something, get ‎ the pretend key and unlock the pretend lock and unzip the pretend zipper and let them talk.‎ l It’s a good idea to get started on this as soon as possible. If you do, interaction(互动) and communication at playgroups, in school and in many other places will be less stressful and more productive in the end. ‎ ‎24. What is usually ignored in the classroom?‎ A. The listening skill. B. The writing skill.‎ C. The teaching environment. C. The interpersonal relationship.‎ ‎25. How do kids practice listening in the second game?‎ A. By listening to a doll’s story. ‎ B. By showing how to pay attention. ‎ C. By telling some interesting stories.‎ D. By listening to a story and repeating it. ‎ ‎26. Why does the teacher pretend to zip the kids’ lips?‎ A. To please them. B. To draw their attention. ‎ C. To stop them form speaking. D. To teach them to remember key words.‎ ‎27. What is the best title of this text?‎ A. Learn skills by playing games.‎ B. Teach children how to communicate.‎ C. How to improve children’s listening skills.‎ D. What fun games should we play with children?‎ ‎ C Many people catch a cold in the spring or fall. It makes us wonder… Why can’t scientists find a cure(疗法) for the common cold if they can send a man to the moon? The answer is easy. There are hundreds of kinds of cold viruses(病毒) out there. You never know which one you will get, so there isn’t a cure for each one. ‎ ‎ When a virus attacks your body, your body works hard to get rid of it. Blood rushes to your nose and brings congestion(堵塞) with it . You feel terrible because you ‎ can’t breathe well, but your body is actually “eating” the virus. Your temperature rises and you get a fever, but the heat of your body is killing the virus. You also have a runny nose to stop the virus from getting to your cells. You may feel miserable, but actually your wonderful body is doing everything it can to kill the cold. ‎ ‎ Different people have different ways of dealing with colds. In the United States and some other countries, for example, people might eat chicken soup to feel better. Some people drink warm water. Other people take medicine. ‎ ‎ There is one interesting thing to note—some scientists say taking medicine when you have a cold is actually bad for you. The virus stays in you longer because your body doesn’t have a way to fight with it and kill it. Bodies can do an amazing job on their own. There is a joke, however , on taking medicine when you have a cold. It goes like this:‎ ‎ It takes about 1 week to get over a cold if you don’t take medicine, but only 7 days to get over a cold if you take medicine.‎ ‎28. Why does blood rush to our nose when we have a cold?‎ A. To stop the runny nose. B. To make us breathe well.‎ C. To fight with the cold virus. D. To lower our body temperature.‎ ‎29. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “miserable”?‎ A. uncomfortable B.surprised C. worried D. frightened.‎ ‎30. What can we learn from the text?‎ A. Getting a fever is a dangerous thing.‎ B. American people never take medicine.‎ C. Chicken soup is a new cure for the cold.‎ D. Drinking warm water may make people feel better.2‎ ‎31. What does the joke seem to tell us?‎ A. Taking medicine does harm to health.‎ B. Taking medicine makes a cold worse.‎ C. Taking medicine doesn’t work for a cold. ‎ D. Taking medicine helps us recover soon.‎ D ‎ It’s hard for a 30-year-ole person like me to find a job today. And one in four adults between 18 and 34 years old say they have moved back to live with their parents after living on their own for some time. ‎ ‎ It is reported that only 54% of the American adults aged 18 to 25 now have jobs, which was the lowest in over 60 years. Breaking form tradition, my generation (一代人) may grow up to be less wealthy than our parents’generation. ‎ ‎ However, many people don’t like the millennials (people who were born between the 1980s and the 2000s). They think we are lazy and selfish and call us the Me Me Me Generation. But based on the young people I know , the view couldn’t be farther from the truth. Millennials want to work. Even though being shackled by debt(债务) and work stress, they aren’t motivated by money. Instead, they’re driven to make a difference in the world. ‎ ‎ When I interviewed dozens of millennials about their career(事业) choices, almost no one answered that they wanted to make lots of money or have lots of power. Instead, they said things like, “I want to teach kids living in a food desert how to grow their own food.”‎ ‎ These young people aren’t interested in climbing the career ladder. Most millennials have already changed careers and over 90% of the millennials expect to stay in a job for less than three years. As Nathaniel Koloc, CEO of Rework, said, “There is no clear way ‘up’anymore. It’s just a series of projects or jobs, one after another. You can move in any direction; the only question is how you’re making your plan of where to move and where you can land , that is , what you’re competitive for.”‎ ‎32. Why do some adults move back to live with their parents?‎ A. To follow the tradition. B. To look after their parents. ‎ C. To reduce their own pressure. D. To balance work and family.‎ ‎33. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “shackled’in Paragraph 3?‎ A. troubled B. beaten C. shocked D. disappointed ‎ ‎34. What does the author think of the millennials?‎ A. They are lazy and selfish. ‎ B. They care more about power.‎ C. They are less rich than their parents. ‎ D. They want to make the world a better place.‎ ‎35. What can we learn from Nathaniel koloc’s words?‎ A. Young people have many jobs to choose from.‎ B. There are lots of positions waiting for young people. ‎ C. The jobs that share a person’s purpose really matter.‎ D. Young people should have good plans for their jobs.‎ 第二节:根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项是多余选项。(每小题2.5分)‎ ‎ Communication is possibly one of the most important business skills. Good communication makes you more popular. 36 Here are some tips to help you become a better communicator.‎ ‎ Listen. Most of us are terrible listeners. Instead of truly listening to what the person is saying, we interrupt(打断), prepare our response, or think we already know what the speaker is going to say next. 37‎ ‎ Pay attention to body language. Body language can tell you just as much as what a person says, if not more. 38 Is your co-worker saying she can finish her task on time ,but wringing(搓) her hands while she says it ? She might be afraid to tell you it will be hard to make the due date.‎ ‎ 39 Not everyone likes to communicate in the same way. Email works for some, but others would rather pick up the phone and talk, text, or even use social media to say something . Respect the person you’re trying to communicate with and use the method he/she accepts more easily.‎ ‎ Consider you tone(强调). The problem with email and social media is that it can be difficult to determine the tone. 40 But if it comes off pushy or angry, you could cause a misunderstanding with the recipient. Make sure your language is clear, and if you are angry, take a few minutes to cool down before you type.‎ A. Try to avoid being too serious. ‎ B. You may mean something as a joke. ‎ C. Consider communication preference.‎ D. Watch carefully how they act when they talk.‎ E. See how others respond to your communication.‎ F. Yet many of us haven’t been trained in how to communicate with others.‎ G. It’s impossible to understand what someone needs if we don’t give them our full attention.‎ ‎ ‎ 第三部分  英语知识运用(共两节,满分55分)‎ 第一节完型填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A,B,C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ ‎ Today, I was resting on a bench at a subway station.
