You don't need to hand in your compositions today. 你们今天不必交作文。 二、情态动词的推测性用法 can/ could can 用于肯定句中表示客观的可能性,意为“有时会”;用于疑问句中可以表示推测,意为“可能”,有时表示一种惊讶的语气;用于否定句中也可以表示推测, can't 意为“不可能”,语气很强烈。 could 是 can 的过去式。 二、情态动词的推测性用法 may/ might may 常用于肯定和否定句中;表示某件事情或许会发生,常译为“或许;可能”, might 是 may 的过去式,比 may 语气更弱。 二、情态动词的推测性用法 must must 表示推测时,只能用于肯定句中,意为“一定,必定”,表示十分肯定的语气 ( 在疑问句中或否定句中要用 can/could) 。 二、情态动词的推测性用法 should/ ought to should/ought to 用来表示推测时意为“应该”,即含有“按道理来说应当如此”的意思。 He can't have left . She should/ought to be here at any moment. 她答应 10 点之前来的。她随时都可能来到。 三、“情态动词+ have done” 的用法 must have done 表示对过去已发生的事情进行肯定的推断,只用于肯定句中,意为“一定,必定”,其否定形式为: can't/cannot/couldn't have done 。 1 It must have rained last night, for the road was quite wet . 昨晚 肯定下雨了,因为路面十分潮湿。 I saw Mr. Wang just now . He couldn't/can't have gone abroad . 刚刚 我还看见王先生了,他不可能出国了。 三、“情态动词+ have done” 的用法 could have done 意为“本来可 以 ······ , 本来能 够 ······” ,表示虚拟语气。 2 You could have made greater progress, but you didn't try your best. 你本来可以取得更大的进步,但是你没有努力。 三、“情态动词+ have done” 的用法 may/might have done 表示对过去已发生的事情进行推断,意为“可能 / 或许已 经 ······” 。其否定形式为: may/might not have done 意为“可能没有 做 ······” 。 3 It's no use going to his house . He may not have gone home . He may have gone somewhere else. 去他家没用。 他可能没有回家,可能已经去了别的地方。 三、“情态动词+ have done” 的用法 should/ought to have done 表示本应该做某事,却没有做,含有责备或后悔之意。其否定形式为 should not/ought not to have done 表示本不该做某事却做了。 4 With all the work finished, I should have gone to the party last night. 所有的工作都做完了,我昨晚本该去参加宴会的。 You ought not to have made fun of him . He is not the one you laugh at but learn from. 你本不应该取笑他的。他不是你要嘲笑的人而是你应该学习的榜样。 三、“情态动词+ have done” 的用法 needn't have done 表示本没有必要做某事却做 了。 5 We needn't have bought so much food now that Suzie won't be with us for dinner. 既然苏西不与我们一起吃晚饭,我们原本不必买那么多食物。 虚拟语气 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 虚拟条件句 1 if 条件从句 从句的谓语形式 主句的谓语形式 表示现在情况 动词过去式 (be 的过去式用 were) should/would/could/might +动词原形 表示过去情况 had +过去分词 should/would/could/might + have +过去分词 表示将来情况 should +动词原形 should/would/could/might +动词原形 动词过去式 were to +动词原形 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 虚拟条件句 1 If I had enough money , I would buy myself a computer first of all.( 与现在事实相反 ) 如果我有足够的钱,我首先要为自己买一台电脑。 If you had taken my advice , you could have passed the exam.( 与过去事实相反 ) 如果你按照我的建议去做,你肯定考过了。 If I saw/should see/were to see him tomorrow , I would invite him to my home.( 与将来事实相反 ) 如果明天见到他,我会邀请他到我家。 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 错综 时间 条件句 2 If I were you, I wouldn't have taken his stupid advice. 如果我是你的话,我才不会听他的馊主意。 If you had studied hard earlier, you would be studying at university now. 如果你早点努力学习,你现在就在上大学了。 当虚拟语气中从句的时间和主句的时间指的不是同一个时间时,这时会构成错综时间虚拟语气, 需要根据上下文来判断各自的语气 。 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 省略 if 的倒装 句 3 If I were at school again , I would study harder. → Were I at school again , I would study harder. 如果我还有上学的机会,我会更加努力地学习。 If they had known what was coming next , they might have had second thoughts. → Had they known what was coming next , they might have had second thoughts. 要是他们知道下一步发生什么,他们会三思的。 If it should rain tomorrow , we would not go climbing. → Should it rain tomorrow , we would not go climbing. 如果明天下雨的话,我们就不去登山了。 在虚拟条件状语从句中可省略 if ,把 were , had , should 提到句首,变为倒装句式。 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 含蓄条件句 4 Without your help, I couldn't have won the prize. 要是没有你的帮助,我不可能获得这个奖项。 (1) 有时假设的情况并不以条件句表示出来,而是通过一个介词短语或其他方式表示。常用的有 without , but for , under , with 等介词。 一、条件句中的虚拟语气 含蓄条件句 4 Your father felt very tired yesterday , or/otherwise he would have taken you to the zoo. 你父亲昨天很累,不然他会带你去动物园的。 She would have helped you , but she was busy yesterday. 她本来能来帮助你的,但昨天她太忙了。 (2) 有时虚拟语气可以由 otherwise , or , but 来引导。 二、宾语从句中的虚拟语气 在 建议、愿望、命令等动词后的宾语从句中的虚拟 语气 1 下列动词后的宾语从句中的虚拟语气结构为“ should +动词原形 ”, should 可以省略 。 一主张 : insist 二命令 : order , command 三建议 : suggest , advise , recommend 四要求 : request , require , ask , demand 外加一个敦促 : urge The school recommends parents ( should ) not permit their children to swim in rivers. 学校建议父母别让他们的孩子在河里游泳。 二、宾语从句中的虚拟语气 在 wish 后的宾语从句中的虚拟 语气 2 (1) 对 现在 情况的虚拟: wish +主语+ 动词过去式 (be 用 were) (2) 对 过去 情况的虚拟: wish +主语+ had +过去分词 (3) 对 将来 情况的虚拟: wish +主语+ would/could/might +动词原形 I wish (that) I were a bird and could fly freely in the sky . 我 希望我是一只小鸟,能在天空自由飞翔。 I wish you had come to my birthday party. 但愿你当时来参加我的生日晚会了。 We wish we would fly to the Mars one day. 但愿我们有一天能飞到火星上。 二、宾语从句中的虚拟语气 would rather 后的宾语从句中,表示愿望,意为“宁愿;但愿”。用一般过去时表示与现在或将来事实相反;用过去完成时表示与过去事实相反。 3 When my father is upset , he would rather we left him alone. 当我的父亲烦恼的时候, 他更喜欢我们不打扰他。 I ' d rather you hadn't told me about it. 我宁愿你没有告诉我那件事。 三、主语从句中的虚拟语气 在 It is desired / suggested/ recommended/ proposed/ necessary/ important/ strange/ natural/ essential/ a pity... + that 从句中,从句的谓语动词用“ should +动词原形 ”, should 可以省略 。 It is proposed that a new nature preserve ( should ) be set up in this area. 人们建议在这个地区建立一个新的自然保护区。 四、表语从句和同位语从句中的虚拟语气 在 suggestion , proposal , order , request , advice 等名词后的表语从句和同位语从句中要用虚拟语气,其构成是“ should +动词原形 ”, should 可以省略 。 My advice is that we ( should ) take the price into account . 我 的建议是我们应该把价格因素考虑在内。 Your suggestion that the door ( should ) be shut when we leave is reasonable . 你 的那个当我们离开的时候应该关上门的建议是合理的。 五、其他句型中的虚拟语气 在“ It is (about/high) time + that 从句”中,谓语动词常用 过去式 或“ should +动词原形 ”表示虚拟语气, should 一般不省略。 1 It's high time that we devoted/should devote ourselves to environmental protection. 是我们致力于环境保护的时候了。 五、其他句型中的虚拟语气 as if , as though 引导的表语从句和方式状语从句中常用虚拟语气, 与现在事实相反用一般过去时;与过去事实相反用过去完成时 。 2 It seems as though it were spring already. 看起来好像已经是春天了。 ( 事实上不是 ) He talked as if he had been to Italy himself. 他谈论起来好像自己去过意大利似的。 ( 事实上并没去过 ) 五、其他句型中的虚拟语气 if only 引导的感叹句中,用虚拟语气表示愿望。 2 Look at the trouble we're in .
