At first, I did not know if I should go because honestly, I am not the biggest sports fan of any kind. However, I would not never regret going there after I watched it. ‎ Although many people don’t consider cross-country a sport, I disagree. Cross-country beginners have to work out and exercise just like you do for any other sport. They run for hours and miles. In fact, many sports consider running as their punishment for bad behavior, but I wonder what the coach would do to punish a cross-country beginner.‎ Honestly, I never knew how much fun I would have watching many kids run for fun. They kept running no matter how tired they were. The public would not only just cheer for the runners they know but also cheer for all runners, fast and slow. When the students heard you cheering them on, or even just clapping(鼓掌) to encourage them, they would start sprinting and try their best to cross the finish line. ‎ My students did a wonderful job and I took many pictures of them. When they found that someone from their school came to see them, they were very exacted. Cross-county is actually pretty great and I definitely want to support cross-country later in my teaching career. What I will do next is to go the meets with my students.‎ ‎34. We can learn from the second paragraph that cross-country beginners ______.‎ ‎ A. often exercise for a short time at first ‎ ‎ B. need to train hard through running ‎ C. will not be punished because of bad behavior ‎ ‎ D. never exercise mile after mile ‎35. What is the meaning of the underlined word “sprinting” in Paragraph 2?‎ ‎ A. Taking a break B. Becoming shy ‎ ‎ C. Running as fast as possible D. Shouting as loudly as possible ‎36. How will the author support cross-country?‎ ‎ A. By cheering on the runners B. By guiding the runners ‎ ‎ C. By attending the meets D. By running along with the runners C Throughout Europe golf has been popular for many years. A recent report says that in Great Britain alone, 700 new golf courses will have to be built over the next ten years to meet people's needs.‎ This is all good news for golf lovers, but it worries those who want to protect the environment. Their argument is that the new courses are disturbing the balance of nature. Woods, ponds and fields are being dug up to make way for the courses. The birds and animals that used to live there are being killed or forced to leave. The amount of water that a club uses to keep its courses in good condition is reducing the amount of water available for industrial and other uses. The chemicals used to control insects are sinking into the underground water. ‎ There may be some truth in this, but it is not the whole truth. The days are long past when building of any kind was allowed in beautiful places with no thought for the environment. Planning permission, nowadays, is as strict for golf courses as it is for any other type of development. Before any such project is given the go-ahead, many things are studied. It is only when it is clear no harm will be done to the area that the builders are allowed to move in.‎ A strong case can even be made that golf courses are actually good for the areas where they are built. Courses are usually built in the areas which are not areas of natural beauty. The new courses often make the area look livelier. To make holes more difficult, trees are planted and lakes are filled in around greens. Not surprisingly perhaps, it is not unusual to find that, within months of a course being completed, a lot of animals and birds have moved in.‎ Obviously, careful thought has to go into the design of the new courses. As few changes as possible should be made to the natural environment. Woods and wildlife should be also protected. But this can be, and is being, done. There is no reason why golfers and nature cannot live peacefully together.‎ ‎37. What is mainly discussed in Paragraph 2?‎ ‎ A. The rules for playing golf. ‎ B. How to protect the environment.‎ ‎ C. The disadvantages of building golf courses.‎ ‎ D. Whether golf courses should be built or not.‎ ‎38. According to Paragraph 4, golf courses ______.‎ ‎ A. may make the local area a better place B. provide more jobs for local people ‎ ‎ C. are harmful to the local environment D. waste too much water and money ‎ ‎39. What is true about building a new golf course nowadays?‎ A. It takes up too much land.‎ B. A lot of trees have to be cut down.‎ C. It is easy to get planning permission.‎ ‎ D. Many things will be taken into consideration. ‎ ‎40. Which of the following can best describe the author's attitude in the passage? ‎ ‎ A. Uninterested. B. Worried. C. Hopeful. D. Doubtful.‎ ‎ ‎ D As the first black female representative of Alabama in Congress, Terri A. The important thing is to wear the right clothes for the right places.‎ Schools have always understood this and a lot of them ask their students to wear a uniform. Why? A lot of teachers think a uniform makes students feel that they are part of their school and that their uniform helps them to be serious about their studies. 47 If all the students wear uniforms, they can't judge each other because of their clothes. Sadly, when Shakespeare was only 15, his father died while traveling back from Cambridge. He had to leave school and could not go to university. But the tour guide told Jim’s class that it was good that Shakespeare did not go to college. Nobody taught him how to write his plays, so he was free to write in a new way. (20) His plays were different and interesting, and he became famous in London. Now, his name is known all over the world.‎
