【英语】2018届二轮复习阅读理解专题:七选五专练(二)学案(2页)
七选五专练(二) A Effective Ways to Be Successful at Events The holiday season is upon us, and I'm frequently asked for my event success tips. Well, it all begins with taking care of one's own spirit and keeping a positive attitude. The following are practical things that anyone can do. 1 1. Greet everyone and wish them well. 2 You're a team, for you're all present in that location together, for the whole process of the event. So open up and join the team from the beginning. 2. Shine your own light. Never mind what or how others are doing. 3 Put away the iPhone, iPad etc., and be present with your own light so that it shines purely. 3. 4 Express thanks for the weather, the furniture, the other people attending the event, and the opportunity to be there. Express thanks to those who spare time to talk with you. Of course if it's a big event, you won't get to everyone, but include those near you. 4. Keep a sense of happiness throughout the event. People attending events tend to be attracted by happy souls. Your sense of happiness will positively influence those around. So I always keep my sense of humor while at events. 5 If you do these small things regularly during events, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself and become a star. A. Give thanks throughout the event. B. Make eye contact and start conversations. C. You should be polite when attending events. D. It can make people laugh and spread happiness. E. Follow them and increase your success at events. F. Be yourself, offer what you can offer, and stay focused. G. Concentrating on what isn't there will not improve conditions. B If you're in your 20s or even 30s, you might feel a lot of uncertainty all the time. You may be not sure what your life purpose is. 1 This is normal. We all want to have a certain life purpose. We all want to feel we're on the right path. We all want to perfect our habits, our routines, or our productivity. We all want to feel more certain, and perfect in what we're doing. There is a struggle between the comfort of certainty and perfection and the fear of uncertainty and being suboptimal (不最理想的). Let me let you in on a secret: no one is free from this struggle. Look at the most successful people you can think of — Bill Gates, Obama, Taylor Swift. 2 Do you think they have certainty and a feeling of reaching perfection? Not a chance. There is not one of us alive, not me or anyone else, who ever feels certainty about their purpose or path. If they do, they're fooling themselves. 3 No one ever feels they've found the perfect productivity routine, or the perfect version of themselves. 4 We all feel uncertainty, all day, and we all struggle with it. Some people have grown more comfortable with it than others, but in general no one likes uncertainty. 5 That's perfectly OK, perfectly normal. Don't run from it. Instead, stay with this uncomfortable, unappealing uncertainty. It's here in you, a part of this moment, a part of you but not the whole of you. A. Because it doesn't exist. B. Do you think they have it all figured out? C. This uncertainty you're feeling is unpleasant. D. But if they're honest, they don't feel that certainty. E. See if you can tell what you're being uncertain about. F. So focus on what you actually have right in front of you. G. You may be uncertain about what path you should take in life. C Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets.” I rarely meet a Twitter user who doesn't want more followers. Therefore, I'd like to share with you how I have built my own follower count to more than 240,000 followers since I began with Twitter. • Practice strategic following. By this I mean, follow people in your industry. 1 . If they retweet (转发信息) you, it means you will be introduced to their followers. • Be generous in linking to and retweeting others. 2 . The more you link to others, the more people will be thankful to you in return. And that's exactly what must happen for you to grow your follower count. You need others to introduce you to their followers. • Avoid too much promotion. Yes, you can advertise your blog posts, products, etc. on Twitter, but be careful. 3 . If you do, others will hate you. Not only will you not get additional followers, you will annoy your existing followers and many of them will unfollow you. • Don't use an auto-responder. I used to use Social Oomph to thank everyone who followed me and provide a link to my “Beginner's Guide to Twitter.” I thought I was being polite and helpful. 4 . Avoid it. Finally, don't worry too much about the numbers. If you follow the advice I have given above, the numbers will take care of themselves. 5 . I didn't build my following overnight and neither will you. A. There's a line you must not cross B. Some of these will follow you back C. As it turns out, I was being annoying D. Twitter advocates a culture of sharing E. Like most things in life, it takes time and patience F. What you should do is to follow as many people as possible G. It's possible to attract a great number of followers in a short time D Dog boarding (寄宿) is a service offered by some veterinarians and pet boarding kennels (养狗场). While boarding, dogs are fed, walked, and cared for by kennel staff. 1 Some boarding companies offer services such as pet day care for dog owners who have some business to deal with, while others specialize in long-term boarding. 2 In the late part of the twentieth century, dog boarding began to take off as pet owners took longer trips and wanted better care for their animals. A basic kennel offers an enclosed dog run, regular feeding and watering along with exercise, and monitoring for emergent medical problems. Veterinarians often offer boarding for animals with special medical needs. Doggie day care and pet day care facilities (场所) are common in many major cities. Enterprising facilities locate themselves in downtown areas convenient to large companies which may have employees who could use their services. 3 The relationship between pets and their owners has changed. 4 Therefore, they like to send them to a dog boarding location that works more like a dog camp. Some pet camps include large outdoor grounds and enthusiastic staff with a great love for animals. Dog boarding no longer represents a way to get rid of the pets for the family trip. Some boarding facilities are more elegantly appointed (布置陈设的) than human hotels, and dogs often enjoy the change of scenery. If you are boarding a dog for the first time, make sure to bring along some of your dog's favorite toys and preferred foods. 5 When dropping your dog off, make sure to remain calm and cheerful so that your pet will not be nervous. A. Some companies actually allow their employees to bring their pets to work with them. B. Pet day care facilities often offer behavioral training as well as routine care. C. Dog owners need care for their pets while they are busy with other things. D. Most pet owners consider their dogs to be members of the family. E. They are responsible for keeping the dogs healthy and happy. F. Don't forget objects that smell like home such as sweaters. G. The idea of boarding dogs has been around for some time. 参考答案: A. 1-5 EBFAD B. 1-5 GBDAC C. 1-5 BDACE D. 1-5 EGBDF查看更多
