Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel), Brian O’ Conner (Paul Walker) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) are planning to steal $100 million from businessman Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida). At the same time, agent (联邦特工) Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is chasing after them. The story’s pretty fast-moving and the car chase at the end is amazing.‎ ‎—Derek Well, if I’d known it was an action film, I wouldn’t have gone to see it. I mean, I can’t stand action films. And I’ll tell you another thing – I can’t stand Vin Diesel. I mean he can’t act to save his life. The film would have been much better with someone like Mau Damon or George Clooney. The only good thing about it was the soundtrack (电影配乐) which was pretty good. And I won’t be going to see any other Fast & Furious movies either!‎ ‎—Zoe Well it started off all right, but the romance between Mia and Brian was a bit inadequate (不足的) and the whole thing lost its way. It was as if the director couldn’t decide whether he was making a thriller, an action movie or a romantic comedy (喜剧), so he ended up making none of them.‎ ‎—Mario It was amazing! I can’t believe it was really over two hours long. It just flashed by. The ‎ direction was superb; Justin did a really good job. And the acting was great. I know Vin Diesel isn’t going to win an Oscar or anything like that but he’s good at what he does. And the plot! I laughed out loud quite a few times. The funny thing is, I would not have bothered seeing it if my friend hadn’t suggested going.‎ ‎—Megan ‎21.What does Mario think of the Fast & Furious movie?‎ ‎ A. It is pretty good. B. It is really thrilling.‎ ‎ C. It is disappointing. D. It is violent.‎ ‎22.Megan went to see the Fast & Furious movie because ________.‎ ‎ A. she knew it was an Oscar winner B. she likes action films very much ‎ C. her friend recommended it to her D. her favorite director shot it ‎23.Where does this text probably come from?‎ ‎ A. A film poster. B. A film review.‎ ‎ C. A newspaper advertisement. D. A research paper.‎ B Mrs. Keller had a big family. Her husband had a factory in the town. Compared with dogs, cats seem to be very lazy and unfriendly. Besides, cats are not known for acts of selflessness (无私). But maybe we’re wrong about them. Don’t believe it? Then meet Pippa, a very unusual cat.‎ The black-and-white cat was left in a box outside a shop and taken by the British RSPCA to the Jansa family in Whitstable, Kent. They really loved her character (性格) and decided to adopt (收养) it,but they never guessed she’d become a lifesaver.‎ Eight-year-old Mia Jansa had diabetes and had become good at testing her blood during the day, as well as having something to eat or drink to bring her blood sugar levels back. But the danger was at night. Mia could easily experience hypoglycemic (低血糖症的) situations when she was asleep, which could cause even death.‎ Soon after she was adopted, Pippa went into Mia’s bedroom in the middle of the night and woke her up. When the child tested her blood sugar levels, she found they were dangerously low. Ever since, Pippa always visits Mia at night. If she can’t get her to wake up, she raises the alarm.‎ ‎“Pippa does this of her own accord,” says Mia’s mother Laura. “We don’t make a request for caring because we don’t want to encourage wrong alarms. She gets plenty of hugs. It gives me peace of mind and I know someone else is keeping an eye on Mia.”‎ Now the family is so happy that they’ve chosen to adopt it in the first place.‎ ‎28.Why did the family decide to adopt the cat?‎ ‎ A. Pippa does that for her own good.‎ ‎ D. Pippa does that without a purpose.‎ D People in the United States honor their parents with two special days:Mother’s Day, on the second Sunday in May, and Father’s Day, on the third Sunday in June. These days are set aside to show love and respect for parents. They raise their children and educate them to be responsible (有责任感的) citizens. They give love and care. These two days make us think about the changing roles of mothers and fathers. More mothers now work outside the home. More fathers must help with child care.‎ These two special days are celebrated in many different ways. On Mother’s Day people wear carnations. A red one symbolizes a living mother. A white one shows that the mother is dead. Many people attend religious services to honor parents. It is also a day when people whose parents are dead visit the cemetery (墓地). On these days families get together at home, as well as in restaurants. They often have outdoor barbecues for Father’s Day. These are days of fun and good feelings and memories.‎ Another tradition is to give cards and gifts. Children make them in school. Many people make their own presents. These are valued more than the ones bought in stores. It is not the value of the gift that is important, but it is “the thought that counts”. Greeting card stores, florists, candy makers, bakeries, telephone companies, and other stores do a lot of business during these holidays.‎ ‎32. Which of the following is NOT a reason for children to show love and respect for parents?‎ A. Parents bring up children. ‎ B. Parents give love and care to children.‎ C. Fathers are not as important as mothers at home.‎ ‎35.
