英语 阅读理解 The idea of changing the world seems very crazy, but there are a number of small everyday things we can do to make the world better. Community centers, parks, libraries, homeless shelters, hospitals and schools are all places where students can make a difference through service. Alisia Orosco, 10, wanted to show her love and care to the sick kids at University Children’s Hospital in Texas, where her brother had been a patient. She earned money by doing part-time jobs and used it to buy different toys for the children in hospital. Now she visits three hospitals every year with bags of toys.“I hope to help as many kids as I can,”Alisia says.“It makes me happy to make them smile.” High school students in a town of Washington made a difference in the lives of some needy children by building a playground at a workers’ camp. They got a lot of help from a building supply store which provided free building materials for the project. Teens in New Jersey decided to offer their help at a local soup kitchen where people with no homes can get free food. But there wasn’t one. They created a one-day soup kitchen and were able to feed 60 needy people and allow them to take the rest home. Their efforts got more people to understand the great need of the poor in their community. Because of their efforts and success, a permanent soup kitchen was created with the $10,000 National Award they received from Newman’s Own Inc. High school students in Las Vegas helped 30 homeless adults prepare resumes during a job fair they held at the area’s largest homeless shelter. At least nine of the adults later found jobs. 1. So here are five simple strategies to help you learn how to manage your anger: ★Relax. Breathe deeply, from your stomach. 15 Repeat it to yourself and imagine a relaxing time and experience. ★Change the way you think. When you’re angry, your thinking can get exaggerated (夸大的). 16 For example, instead of telling yourself,“Oh, it’s terrible! Everything’s ruined,”tell yourself,“It’s understandable that I’m upset about it, but it’s not the end of the world.” ★ 17 Statements like“This never works.”or“You’e always forgetting things.”will make you feel your anger is justified(情有可原的) and there’s no way to solve the problem. They might upset people who might be willing to work with you on a solution. ★Have a better communication. Angry people tend to jump to conclusions. If you are in a heated discussion, slow down. 18 And take your time before answering. Instead of saying the first thing that comes into your head, think carefully about what you want to say. ★Use humor. Psychologists say that highly angry people tend to think“things ought to go my way!”Silly humor can help you get a more balanced perspective. So, when you feel that anger coming the next time, picture yourself as a king or queen, walking around, admired by everybody, and getting your own way in every situation. The more detail you can get into your imaginary scenes, the more likely it is to put a smile on your face. 19 A. Be careful with words like“never”or“always”. B. Listen carefully to what the other person is saying. C. Try replacing these thoughts with more reasonable ones. D. Avoid using these strategies when you’re in a tense situation. E. Then slowly repeat a calm word or phrase such as“take it easy”. F. Try changing the topics so your talks won’t turn into arguments. G. That will help you realize that the things you’re angry about are really not very important. 短文改错 This morning I went to a nearby food store to buy some breads. After the man in the store packing the bread in a small bag for me, I began to walk home with bag in my hand. On the way I met my next-door neighbor, Miss Wang, that was walking her dog. We greeted with each other and begin to talk about the weather. As we were talking, his dog came up to the bag in my hand though the bread gave off a delicious smell. As a result, some of the bread fell to the ground or the dog began to enjoy it. Five minutes late, I was back at the store to buy bread again. 答 案 阅读理解 中学生为有需要的孩子们建了一个操场。故选B。 语法填空 5. celebrations 6. their 7. hungry 8. to help 9. that/which 10. are 11. hung 12. slowly 13. the 14. until/till 七选五 16. 15. 19. 18. 17. 短文改错查看更多
