Many people feel ‎ this way after lunch. They may think that eating lunch is the cause of the sleepiness.Or,in summer,‎ they may think it is the heat. However, the real reason lies inside their bodies. At that time—about ‎ eight hours after you wake up—your body temperature goes down. This is what makes you slow down ‎ and feel sleepy.Scientists have tested sleep habits in experiments where there was no night or day.The people ‎ in these experiments almost always followed a similar sleeping pattern. They slept for one long ‎ period and then for one short period about eight hours later. In many parts of the world, people take naps in the middle of the day. This is especially true in ‎ warmer climates, where the heat makes work difficult in the early afternoon.Researchers are now saying that naps are good for everyone in any climate.A daily nap gives one a more rested body and mind and ‎ therefore is good for health in general. In countries where naps are traditional, people often suffer ‎ less from problems such as heart disease. Many working people, unfortunately, have no time to take ‎ naps.Though doctors may advise taking naps, employers do not allow it! If you do have the chance,‎ however, here are a few tips about making the most of your nap.Remember that the best time to take a nap isabout eight hours after you get up.A short sleep too late in the day may only make ‎ you feel more tired and sleepy afterward. This can also happen if you sleep for too long.If you do not have enough time, try a short nap—even ten minutes of sleep can be helpful.‎ ‎21.Do you know why do you sometimes feel sleepy in the early afternoon?  A.Because it’s hot in summer. B.Because you eat too much for lunch. C.Because you didn’t have a good sleep last night. D.Because your body temperature goes down at that time.‎ ‎22.According to the last paragraph what can we learn about “naps”? A.All the people in warmer climates take naps in the middle of the day. B.Taking naps regularly is beneficial to people’s health.‎ C.If you take naps everyday, you’ll never suffer from heart disease. D .Doctors need to take naps while employers don’t. 23.What can we infer from the passage? A.If you get up at 6:30 am,you’d better take a nap at about 1:30 pm. B.Taking a nap whenever you want will do good to your health. C.You’ll feel sleepy at regular intervals(间隔).‎ D.You will feel less sleepy if you sleep for a long time. 24.What would be the best title for the text? A.All for a Nap      B.Just for a Rest C.A Special Sleep Pattern  D.Taking Naps in Warmer Climate  ‎ B It is said that shyness is a disease or mental condition that can be cured. I prefer to think ‎ of it as an emotional disability. It's something we are born with and something we carry with us in our entire ‎ lives. There are too many people, however, who seem to be determined to find some ways of ‎ doing away with their shyness. In my opinion, it's a waste of time. I don't mean that we should do ‎ nothing about it. Quite the contrary, I think we need to separate the basic fact of shyness from our ‎ ability to take part in a social environment.       Look at one of the most famous shy people of them all, Tony White. This man is painfully shy, ‎ yet for decades he made a living talking and associating(交往) with different people every night, in front of a  ‎ national audience.  White has never done away with his shyness, but he has successfully found a way to deal ‎ with it to the extent that he could be, not just a talk show host, but a legend(传奇) among ‎ talk show hosts.  Look also at Amy Lee, who has recently admitted her problem with shyness. This is a ‎ woman who has appeared in many films, TV shows and interviews, yet in her early years she was so shy ‎ that she turned down a lunch invitation from Jane Fonda because she was terribly afraid of meeting her.       I guess that our shyness is there because each of us is born with some insecurity(不安全感) and this  insecurity prevents us from reaching out to others the way people with a more open personality do. As ‎ we grow up and become adults, we allow our social skills to grow and develop. But we are still stuck ‎ in kindergarten or elementary school or wherever it was when our shyness took root in our soul.‎ ‎25. In the author's view, shyness can be explained as ______.‎ A. an emotional disability          B. a not very normal mental condition C. a disease that can be easily cured                    D. something we pick up after birth ‎26. The underline expression “doing away with” most probably means “_____”.‎ A. keeping away from B. getting rid of ‎ C. catching up with        D. doing well in ‎27.Which of the following is TRUE of Tony White?  ‎ A. He was described as a hero in some legend books. B. He didn’t dare to speak in front of a national audience. C. He has dealt with shyness very successfully. ‎ D. He failed to become a good talk show host.‎ ‎28. The passage tells us that Amy Lee was ______‎ A. proud all the time                              B. impolite when young C. close to Jane Fonda                          D. shy in her early years ‎ C ‎     As you grow rapidly through your teenage years, you will experience a lot of changes. The changes may seem difficult and they may seem to happen quickly. Don’t panic(恐慌)!You will deal successfully with them! You are a young adult now!     With more responsibility, you will find more freedom to make your own choices. This is a time to be well informed(知晓) about your choices so that you can make healthy balanced decisions that will help shape your future. You may already know your career path or you may have no idea at all what you want to do. Both situations are fine!Work hard and the right opportunity will present(展现) itself to you. Young adulthood means greater freedom and more choices. You  will probably want to be independent. But try not to shut your family out of your life. You should learn to think of others even though you are old enough to look after yourself. Your family have been with you since you came into this world.     It is also perfectly natural in this time for you to spend more time with your friends than your family. Choose your friends wisely. A true friend will stand by you no matter what happens. This period is part of the life cycle. There are some people who will be with you throughout life's ‎ journey and there will be some people with whom you part(分离) and go separate ways. Leaving school can be hard. The reality is that you may not ever see all of your classmates again.     You are a young adult. It is your life. No one can live it for you. The choices that you make from now on will be your choices. So making the right choices will be important to you. Life is for living. Enjoy your life wisely! 29.The best title for this passage would be   ________.     A. The Choices in Life       B. The Key to Success     C. Say Goodbye to the Past   D. Becoming a Young Adult 30.Who do the underlined words “some people” (Paragraph 4)probably mean?    A. your parents   B. your classmates  C. true friends D.your relatives 31.As far as the author is concerned(=in the author’s opinion), teenage years are___.    A. a period of complete freedom    B. too hard for young people to get through    C. an important time for the young to make the right choices    D. a very important period for young students to leave their parents 32.
