‎2020届一轮复习外研版选修6 Module 4Music单元作业 Ⅰ.阅读理解 A ‎(2019·四川省绵阳市高三第二次诊断性考试)While money can't technically buy happiness, it can buy you a moodlifting, outlookimproving vacation. Haven't made plans yet to skip town this winter? These moneysaving travel tips can help you book the destination of your choice and enjoy your time there — without breaking the bank.‎ ‎1.FLY THE COOP FAST If you're planning to set off for an adventure right away, try the GTFO (Get The Flight Out) app. It lists the cheapest roundtrip flights departing from your local airport that day or by the next morning. At press time, airfare was down 12 percent from last August and roundtrip tickets for domestic flights averaged $218.‎ ‎2.SNAG A DISCOUNTED HOTEL ROOM If Airbnb isn't your style, reserve markeddown accommodations on Tingo, which lists almost all the rooms in more than 155,000 locations worldwide. After you book a price drop room, the site monitors rates until, typically, 24 to 48 hours before checkin. If the price drops, Tingo refunds you the difference.‎ ‎3.LIVE IT UP LOCALLY If you're planning a staycation (不出城度假) this winter, try an affordable escape close to home. The free app HotelTonight offers lodging (租住) deals in more than 100 U.S. and Canadian cities and regions, and has a locationbased feature that gives extra savings on already discounted prices on spots closest to you. Sameday prices fall ‎ even lower after 6 P.M.‎ 语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。利用网站和应用软件可以享受到便宜便捷的冬季旅游。文章介绍了有此功能的两个应用软件和一个网站。‎ ‎1.The GTFO app is most useful to those who ________.‎ A.take a regular business trip B.seek a lastminute travel C.can't afford a comfortable travel D.plan a shortdistance flight 解析:选B 细节理解题。根据第二段的第一句“If you're planning to set off for an adventure right away, try the GTFO (Get The Flight Out) app.”可知,GTFO是一款针对临时才定下来要去旅行的人的应用软件,故B项正确。‎ ‎2.The underlined word “markeddown” in Paragraph 3 means “________”.‎ A.highlighted B.written C.discounted D.scored 解析:选C 词义猜测题。根据第三段的标题“SNAG A DISCOUNTED HOTEL ROOM”并结合画线词后的“accommodations on Tingo ... book a price drop room”可以判断,画线词意为“降价的,打折的”,此处表示在Tingo网站上预订打折的房间,故C项正确。‎ ‎3.What can we infer about the app HotelTonight?‎ A.Only the U.S. natives can use it.‎ B.Its deals include the whole America.‎ C.Prices stay the same within a day.‎ D.Its services vary from place to place.‎ 解析:选D 推理判断题。根据第四段的第二句可知,HotelTonight软件涉及美国和加拿大的一百多个城市和地区,其价格和服务具有地方特色;据此可以判断,HotelTonight软件中的服务在各地是不一样的,故D项正确。‎ B I wanted to have tea with Nirad in a tea break during a retreat (静养). I was holding the cup so he could sip (小口喝) tea. I was being careful and poured a small quantity in his mouth. I enjoyed concentrating on each moment and listening deeply to do a good job with serving tea.‎ We were immediately connected and befriended each other during this time. Two other retreat participants joined and then there were four us people talking about varieties of topics which ranged from how Nirad progressed in his education to cool ones like how he maintains his weight, etc. These conversations brought smiles and it seemed we all knew each other from long time ago. In subtle (巧妙的) ways, we quietly felt the connection.‎ When we finished tea, I felt like tying a wrist thread for Nirad. The wristband had the letters that read “WE” on one side and “ME” on the other if read upside down. This beautiful gift was received from the Moved By Love team (a nonprofit volunteer organization in India). I told Nirad that my youngest brother is about his age, and he gave me a sweet, calm smile.‎ I felt deep content during this teatime. I had actually lived those moments, being sympathetic and friendly. It was an experience of joy. Later, during the retreat, each time myself and Nirad happened to greet or talk, we smiled naturally and felt connected.‎ It's sad that we don't connect deeply, even with our family or friends.‎ ‎ We are just too busy running after things, going nowhere. We don't seem to concentrate or care enough for people during our conversations. I had these valuable realisations later.‎ On the last day of the retreat, I told Nirad, “This was the best teatime I ever had in my life.” He gave me a warm, unforgettable smile.‎ 语篇解读:本文主要讲述了作者在静养期间结交好友的故事。‎ ‎4.What can we learn about Nirad from Paragraph 1?‎ A.He was healthy.‎ B.He may be disabled.‎ C.He worked in the retreat.‎ D.He liked serving tea.‎ 解析:选B 推理判断题。根据第一段第二句“I was holding the cup so he could sip (小口喝) tea.”可推知,Nirad可能是残疾人。‎ ‎5.When did the author make friends with Nirad?‎ A.When they were at school.‎ B.When the author cared for him.‎ C.When they were tying the wrist thread.‎ D.When they were in Moved By Love team.‎ 解析:选B 推理判断题。根据第一段的内容及第二段的“We were immediately connected and befriended each other”及“it seemed we all knew each other from long time ago”可推知,作者和Nirad以前不认识,只是在作者照顾Nirad喝茶时,建立了良好的感情。‎ ‎6.How did the author find the teatime with Nirad?‎ A.Calm. Yet the township, which grew out of Paraguay's largest dump (垃圾场), is gaining a reputation as a hothouse for musical talent — and for its youth orchestra (管弦乐队) that plays instruments made from garbage. “The world sends us garbage. We send back music,” says Favio Chavez, leader of the “Recycled Orchestra”, during a recent visit by the group to Los Angeles. Orchestra members, poor children from Cateura, play violins fashioned from oven trays and guitars made from dessert dishes. The orchestra provides the youngsters an outlet and an escape, a chance to go beyond the mess of their slum (贫民窟) through the music of Mozart, and even Sinatra. “In the beginning, it was difficult to play,” says the 10yearold violinist Celeste Fleitas. “But Favio helped me learn over time. From Favio, I have ‎ learned to be more responsible and value the things I have.”‎ The destination for more than 1,500 tons of waste each day, the community has no safe drinking water and little access to electricity or sanitation (卫生设施). Illiteracy is severe, and the children of the township often fall into drugs, violence and crimes.‎ Favio Chavez, a musical talent, came to Cateura as an environmental technician in 2006 and started a youth music school. He knew shopbought instruments were beyond the means of villagers whose sheds are worth less than a violin, so he approached a carpenter to make some out of waste from the dump.‎ The orchestra caught the eye of Paraguayan filmmaker Alejandra Amarilla. She uploaded a short piece of the orchestra to YouTube in 2012, hoping to secure crowdfunding (众筹融资) for what would become Landfill Harmonic, a documentary released across the United States this month and promoting the youngsters on a tour of the world's music halls later on.‎ 语篇解读:本文主要介绍了一个利用垃圾制造的乐器来演奏音乐的管弦乐队的故事。‎ ‎8.What is the best title for the text?‎ A.Youngsters carry tunes from garbage to victory B.A music talent hit the road to the world stage C.A town for music fans D.An orchestra on a global tour 解析:选A 标题归纳题。根据第一段和全文内容可推知,本文主要讲的是一群年轻人利用垃圾制造的乐器演奏音乐并取得成功的故事。‎ ‎9.What do we know about Cateura?‎ A.It has raised people's awareness of recycling trash.‎ B.It has caught more attention through the orchestra.‎ C.It recycles more than 1,500 tons of rubbish per day.‎ D.It provides its children with better schooling conditions.‎ 解析:选B 细节理解题。根据第一段的第二句“Yet the township ... plays instruments made from garbage.”可知,Cateura因其管弦乐队而闻名。‎ ‎10.Why did Alejandra Amarilla upload a piece of the orchestra to YouTube?‎ A.To assist the youngster with a world tour.‎ B.To collect funding for a documentary.‎ C.To organize carpenters to make instruments.‎ D.To catch the eye of the Paraguay government.‎ 解析:选B 细节理解题。根据最后一段的“She uploaded a short piece of the orchestra to YouTube in 2012, hoping to secure crowdfunding (众筹融资) for what would become Landfill Harmonic, a documentary”可知,Alejandra Amarilla上传管弦乐队的作品到网上是为了给纪录片筹钱。‎ ‎11.What can we learn from Favio Chavez?‎ A.To work in a team weighs more.‎ B.To recycle things is to conserve things.‎ C.To be creative is a quality of a leader.‎ D.To own nothing is no excuse to do nothing.‎ 解析:选D 推理判断题。根据第三段Favio Chavez把垃圾变为乐器的事可推知,即使什么也没有也可以有所作为,故选D。‎ D ‎(2019·合肥市高三第一次教学质量检测)Half off usually unaffordable products? Only $49.99 for that $100.00 dinner? That's the magic of Groupon, but for some small business owners the “great business” offered by Groupon can be equal to the kiss of death. How could that occur?‎ The math of Groupon seems simple at a glance, but upon further inspection the numbers don't add up when it comes to smaller businesses. A Groupon deal typically offers a 50% discount on a product or service, and then the remaining profit is divided between Groupon and the small business. While Groupon has already received the profit in advance, the merchant is left waiting for their cut. Those worrying numbers are assuming the price cut is 50/50, which, in some cases, is being generous.‎ When you break it down to numbers, a Groupon deal seems disastrous, but it's not only the numbers small business owners have to worry about. The point of Groupon deals is to attract new and hopefully longterm customers. Yet, does this actually happen? The majority of consumers buying the Groupon are there for the bargain and don't return after using their Groupon. CFHS Junior Angelita Pope stated, “I love the deals offered by Groupon! They can really save you so much money.” However, she went on to say that she hadn't returned once to any of the businesses after using her Groupon.‎ For some small businesses, the pressure lies with the responses of their loyal customers, who watch as new faces get the same product or service for half the price that they have been paying for years. When you break it down, Groupon indicates that the business offering the deal is not only willing to be flexible with their price, but also that their product or service isn't worth the price they're charging for. When combining these factors, it's no wonder loyal customers are put off by the idea of their favorite shop offering Groupon.‎ Now I by no means say Groupon has bad effects on all businesses; however the storm of Groupon is actually a disaster for a small business.‎ 语篇解读:本文主要介绍了Groupon团购对小企业的影响。‎ ‎12.What is good about Groupon?‎ A.It can offer a large discount.‎ B.It helps add up the numbers.‎ C.It can improve the quality of the product.‎ D.It brings small business owners more profit.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。根据第二段的“A Groupon deal typically offers a 50% discount on a product or service”可知,Groupon团购的好处就是能够提供很大的折扣。‎ ‎13.CFHS Junior Angelita Pope's statement suggests that ________.‎ A.small business owners needn't worry about deals B.people like using Groupon in the same business C.the purpose of Groupon is to promote the business D.Groupon may not bring customers back 解析:选D 推理判断题。根据第三段的“The majority of consumers buying the Groupon are there for the bargain and don't return after using their Groupon.”可知,Groupon团购可能不会带来回头客。‎ ‎14.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 refer to?‎ A.New faces. B.Loyal customers.‎ C.Groupon dealers. D.Small businesses.‎ 解析:选B 代词指代题。根据第四段的“For some small businesses, the pressure lies with the responses of their loyal customers”可知,此处画线词指那些忠诚的顾客。‎ ‎15.What could be the best title for the text?‎ A.A new business trend — Groupon dealing B.The development of a Groupon company C.The effects of Groupon on small businesses D.A fantastic shopping experience — Groupon 解析:选C 标题归纳题。根据第一段的“but for some small business owners the ‘great business’ offered by Groupon can be equal to the kiss of death”及最后一段的“however the storm of Groupon is actually a disaster for a small business”可知,这篇文章主要讲述的是Groupon团购对小企业的影响。‎ Ⅱ.阅读七选五 ‎(2019·石家庄市高三复习教学质量检测)Whether you are at Disneyland or another Disney park, you will usually find a nighttime show that will be showing. __1__ Read this article to find out how you can get a good seat for an evening event at any Disney park.‎ ‎•Plan on seeing the show in advance.‎ Usually, if you decide an hour beforehand that you're going to see a show, you will likely end up not getting a good seat, unless the park is not very busy. __2__‎ ‎•Do your research.‎ Research online:“The best places to view ...” __3__ Some of them may even be less known, so you may not deal with such a big crowd.‎ ‎•Arrive to the event early.‎ ‎__4__ Possibly even earlier if the park is more crowded on that day.
