For a fever, I would receive a red pill, which I now know is a type of antibiotic(抗生素).‎ ‎ Another thing I know now is that the criminal behind my cold is a virus. The drugs I used only relieved the symptoms. When I went to a German hospital intending to get some medicine to treat my cold, I got nothing more than a pat on my shoulder and words from the doctor, saying that I should get some really good rest. The first time this happened, I was shocked. I wondered how I could put up with my sickness without the help of medicine. But the longer I stayed in Germany, the better I knew how to self-medicate as other Germans do.‎ ‎ I learned to take vitamin C to build up my resistance. But what I like the most is drinking “Erkaltungstee”. For German people, Erkaltungstee is what their grandmother gives them when they catch a cold. It’s a tea bag mainly made of lime flower and orange rind. Another popular cold remedy(药物,治疗法) in Germany is chicken soup. During my first winter in Germany, I got a really bad cold. My neighbor brought me a bowl of chicken soup to make me feel better. It contained a lot of ginger, onion, garlic, carrots and celery. Germans believe these ingredients are perfect for helping your body recover.‎ ‎24.How did the author feel after seeing the German doctor?‎ ‎ A.Relieved. B.Surprised. C.Satisfied. D.Delighted.‎ ‎25.According to the author, what effect do antibiotics have on his cold?‎ ‎ A.They cure his cold.‎ ‎ B.They prevent the disease.‎ ‎ C.They kill the virus in him.‎ ‎ D.They make him feel better.‎ ‎26.What do Germans think of “Erkaltungstee”?‎ ‎ A.It can replace any cold remedy.‎ ‎ B.It can build up one’s resistance.‎ ‎ C.It’s a good way to self-medicate.‎ ‎ D.It’s better than chicken soup.‎ ‎27.What can we infer from the text?‎ ‎ A.Germans tend not to use antibiotics to treat a cold.‎ ‎ B.The author often catches a cold in Taiwan.‎ ‎ C.The author seldom drinks chicken soup.‎ ‎ D.German doctors are cold to patients.‎ 高一英语试卷 第4页(共10页)‎ C.‎ ‎ In 1978, I was 18 and was working as a nurse in a small town about ‎270km away from Sydney, Australia. In the early afternoon, when he was planning to go home, a fierce snowstorm swept into the area. Unable to see far, he accidentally turned off the path. Before he knew it, Nicholas was lost, all alone! He didn’t have food, water, a phone, or other supplies. He was getting colder by the minute.‎ ‎ Nicholas had no idea where he was. He tried not to panic. He thought about all of the survival shows he had watched on TV. It was time to put the tips he had learned to use.‎ ‎ He decided to stop skiing. There was a better chance of someone finding him if he stayed out. The first thing he did was to find shelter from the freezing wind and snow. If he didn’t, his body temperature would get very low, which could quickly kill him.‎ ‎ Using his skis, Nicholas built a snow cave. He gathered a huge mass of snow and dug out a hole in the middle. Then he piled branches on top of himself, like a blanket, to stay as warm as he could.‎ ‎ By that evening, Nicholas was really hungry. He ate snow and drank water from a nearby steam so that his body wouldn’t lose too much water. Not knowing how much longer he could last, Nicholas did the only thing he could—he huddled(蜷缩)in his cave and slept.‎ ‎ The next day, Nicholas went out to look for help, but he couldn’t find anyone. He followed his tracks and returned to the snow cave, because without shelter, he could die that night. On Tuesday, Nicholas went out again to find help. He had walked for about a mile when a volunteer searcher found him. After two days stuck in the snow, Nicholas was saved.‎ ‎ Nicholas might not have survived this snowstorm had it not been for TV. He had often watch Grylls’ survival show Man vs.Wild. That’s where he learned the tips that saved his life. In each episode(一期节目)of Man vs.Wild, Grylls is abandoned in a wild area and has to find his way out.‎ ‎ When Grylls heard about Nicholas’ amazing deeds, he was super impressed that Nicholas had made it since he knew better than anyone how hard Nicholas had to work to stay alive.‎ ‎32.What happened to Nicholas one Sunday afternoon?‎ ‎ A.He hurt his eyes. Be polite, be respectful, and ask questions.‎ ‎ 37 Obviously, your teachers are really interested in their subjects or they wouldn’t have decided to teach them! Showing the teacher that you care sends the message that you are a committed(尽心尽力的,坚定的) student.‎ ‎ You can also schedule a private conference during a teacher’s free period. Use this time to get extra help, ask questions, inquire (询问)about a career in the subject, or talk about your progress in class. 38 ‎ ‎ What to do if you don’t get along?‎ ‎ Before you try to get out of a class to escape a teacher you don’t like, here are a few things you can try to make a difficult relationship work:‎ ‎ Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this teacher?” Even if you don’t like his or her personality or lectures, dig deep until you find a subject in which your teacher is very knowledgeable. 39 ‎ ‎ Talk to students who are doing well in the class and ask them for tips, tools, and a plan of action to get along with teh teacher better.‎ ‎ If your relationship problems can’t be solved in school, then it’s time to tell your parents. Let them meet with your teacher and try to work it out.‎ ‎ Teachers are there for more than just homework, and they know about more than just their subject matter. ‎ ‎ 40 Undoubtedly, there will be a few teachers along the way who you’ll always remember—and who might change your life forever.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ A.Show an interest in the subject.‎ ‎ B.Teachers sense when your only motivation is to get special treatment.‎ ‎ C.They can help you learn how to work as an adult and a lifelong learner.‎ ‎ D.You can do lots of things to get a good connection going with your teacher.‎ ‎ E.Focus on that part of the teacher’s personality, and use it as a tool for learning.‎ ‎ F.Here are some things to avoid when trying to establish a relationship with your teacher.‎ ‎ G.You may be surprised to learn that your teacher is a bit more relaxed one-on-one than when lecturing in front of the whole class.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ 高一英语试卷 第7页(共10页)‎ 第三部分:英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)第一节:完形填空(共20小题,每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ When I was a college student, I did a lot of traveling abroad. As I know, Tom has a special preference for Chinese food. I know a great Chinese restaurant in our neighbourhood. After lunch, we’ll have a short break and then I will play games with him. Don’t worry about him. I think we will get along well with each other. I hope you will have a good time on Saturday.‎ ‎ Yours,‎ ‎ Li Hua 听力材料 Text 1‎ M: It’s already six o’clock. The meeting will begin in ten minutes. How can we get there in time?‎ W: Don’t worry. I put the clock twenty minutes forward. ‎ Text 2‎ M: Sing Soft Kitty to me. ‎ W: Soft Kitty is for when you’re sick. But you’re not sick. ‎ M: Injured and drugged is a kind of sick. ‎ Text 3‎ M: Would you like it short or long at the back?‎ W: Quite short. ‎ M: And…uh…doesn’t it bother you having so much grey hair at your age?‎ W: No, I like it. ‎ Text 4‎ M: Sarah?‎ W: Here! In my bedroom. ‎ M: The day after tomorrow, this Wednesday, is Gerald’s birthday. Tony suggested that we should hold a party for him. ‎ Text 5‎ W: Do you like this painting? I bought it last week. ‎ M: Yes, it’s lovely. I like the color of the houses. ‎ W: I nearly bought the one with some boats and there was a really beautiful one with mountains, but that was too big. ‎ Text 6‎ W: Hey Chris. What time did you say you needed to go downtown to the mechanic’s? I have some time today. How about I drive you there?‎ M: Great. They originally said at 2:00 pm, but the shop called to tell me that the car will be ready by 1:00 pm. Could we go down there by then?‎ W: No problem, but I must be back at the house by 3 o’clock. The city building inspector is coming around then to check the house. ‎ M: Oh, don’t worry about that! You’ll be back at the house long before he comes. ‎ Text 7‎ W: Oh, where are they?‎ M: Who?‎ W: I went to get this CD for a madam and her husband. Now I can’t find them. ‎ M: What do they look like?‎ W: Well, she’s very tall with short red hair. Her husband is tall and thin with curly black hair. ‎ M: I don’t see anyone like that. Have you?‎ M: No. I mean, we just woke up about two hours ago. We haven’t had time to get the house dirty. Look, there are dark marks all over the house! What in the world could they be?‎ W: Well, they’re definitely from someone’s shoes. You can tell by the shape. And I’ve been wearing my slippers all morning, so it can’t be me. ‎ M: Hmm, it looks like the marks come off pretty easily. ‎ W: I think they’re from your black shoes, honey. Try walking down the hall and I see if you make any marks on the floor. ‎ M: OK…well, what do you know? It was me the whole time!‎ Text 9‎ M: Hi, Emily, how was your day?‎ W: To be honest, it was terrible! My manager is such a pain in the neck!‎ M: What happened?‎ W: Well, he made quite a few mistakes in the monthly report, and when his supervisor found them, he blamed them on me!‎ M: That’s not fair. What did you do?‎ W: There wasn’t really anything that I could do. If I had said anything, he would have fired me for sure though I have worked there for five years. ‎ M: Does he treat everyone in your department like this?‎ W: Yes. He treats everyone badly, but he treats me worse!‎ M: Do you have any idea why he treats you worse than the others?‎ W: No. ‎ M: Is there anyone else you can talk with about it in your company?‎ W: No. I’m hoping to live with it for a while until I get a raise. ‎ M: That’s sensible. ‎ W: I try to be sensible about it, but it’s not very easy. Sometimes you just have to bear it. ‎ M: That’s true. ‎ Text 10‎ M: Exams! The very mention of it makes me feel ill! I try to make my review techniques practical but it never seems to work. The first thing I do is make a detailed timetable of which subjects I’m going to study. I also plan how long I’ll spend on each one and how much I should get done. But unfortunately I never seem to stick to this! I normally end up finding out something more interesting to do, like watching TV.
