Hopefully, we can do even better next year. Text 3 M: I’ve looked everywhere for the sign-up sheet for next week’s field trip. Have you seen it, Matilda? W: I saw it yesterday, but I’m not sure where it is now. And I don’t know whether I’ll be able to join you. Text 4 M: Ladies and gentlemen, we have a gate change for Flight 566 to St. Paul. Flight 566 has been moved from Gate B5 to Gate C34. W: Another gate change? I hope we can make it in time... Text 5 W: Are you going on the school outing with us tomorrow? M: I wish! M: This is Alan Johnson. I’d like to book rooms for three nights. W: I’m happy to help. We have a special on business suites from December 23rd to 25th. W: I want my mother to look like a queen, so I put her in the center of the picture. M: That’s lovely, dear. I’m sure she’ll love it. M: Oh, no. Should I go to the doctor? 4 W: I don’t think you’ll have to. If you stay home and rest, you should be OK in a day or so. M: But back in Korea, I always went to the doctor when I wasn’t feeling well. W: Oh, all right. I can make an appointment for you to see our family doctor. I suppose you’re got medical insurance. M: Oh, yes. All overseas students in the U.S. are required to have a group medical plan. W: That’s good. According to this on my phone, the first opening at the doctor’s office is on Wednesday. M: Two days from now? That’s a long time. Am I supposed to just suffer here for two days? W: Don’t worry. I’ll get you some medicine from the local drugstore. You’ll feel better by tomorrow, I’m sure. M: I hope so. I have a test on Tuesday, and I don’t want to miss it. Text 10 You are standing in front of the tallest man-made structure in the world, the Burj Khalifa. It reaches a height of 828 meters. Construction began in 2004, and was finally finished in 2009. One year later, it was officially opened, and remained the most famous building in the main business district. It was designed by a man named Adrian Smith, who also acted as the architect for other famous buildings around the world in countries like Saudi Arabia, the United States, and China. The Burj Khalifa’s chief engineer was Bill Baker, and with the help of thousands of workers from South Asia, they achieved the impossible. It is truly a wonder of engineering. There are a total of 162 floors in the tower. The Armani Hotel occupies fifteen of its floors and has 304 rooms. There are restaurants, swimming pools, company offices, observation decks, and even a mall. The only thing more amazing than staring up at this structure is experiencing it from the inside. Follow me.
