2019届二轮复习阅读理解专题应用文类型模拟试题10篇训练之五 [一] Find a quiet location. Keep a routine. Focus on one subject at a time. It all seems like sound advice for students who need to hit the books, but recent studies indicate the conventional wisdom is all wrong. Here’s a list of tips from Carey, a scientist, for getting the most out of your study time. Test yourself: Doing practice quizzes can help you regain information on the test day. “Tests have a very bad reputation as a measurement tool.” Carey says. But psychologists have found self-tests slow down the forgetting of material you’ve studied. “If you study something once, and then you test yourself on it,” Carey says, “you do better than if you study it twice over.” Move around: Changing where you study can help you retain(保存) more information. “If you move around and study the same material in several places,” he says, “you may be forming...multiple associations for the same material, the same words and so on. So it’s better to fix firmly in your brain, and you can pull it out easier.” Mix it up: Think about a football player who does strength training, speed training and drills. Carey says alternating between different aspects of a subject in a single sitting can “leave a deeper impression on the brain”. For example, when studying French, remember some verbs, do some speaking and some reading. Spending your time in deep concentration on just verbs isn’t as effective. Space it out: Information learned in a hurry is lost just as fast. Carey compares cramming your brain to speed-packing a cheap suitcase—it all falls out. So if you really want to learn, space out shorter, hour-long study period. “There’s no doubt you can cram your way through an exam.” Carey says. “The problem is that it’s so easy to forget what you just crammed—and once it’s gone,” Carey says, “It’s gone .You’re not getting it back.” Of course, nothing can replace the power of motivation and discipline. But Carey says the overall message is encouraging: “Studying can sort of be incorporated into a more varied life, much more easily than we thought.” 21According to the text, the best way to learn is . A.to learn one’s subject at a time in a quiet place B.to be strongly motivated to learn something C.to mix up everything that you will learn D.to do self-tests after you learn immediately 答案:B解析:细节理解题。从文章最后一段的第一句“Ofcourse, nothing can replace the power of motivation and discipline.”可知学习有动机是最好的学习方法,故选B项。 22Why are you advised to move around while learning? Not all vacations call for taking a tour bus to take photos of famous landmarks. Some vacations allow you plenty of opportunities to learn. The most difficult aspect of a learning vacation may be choosing one because the possibilities are endless. If you enjoy cooking, various companies can take you to Italy, France, Spain, Mexico or even Peru. Once there, you can learn to prepare the local cuisine(烹饪). Trips are often planned to fit in with local food festivals or special events. The term “learning vacation” often brings language to mind. The best way to learn a language is in an environment where it’s spoken. Study Spanish, French or English. Or attempt a more unusual language like Polish, Estonian or Thai. You’ll be able to learn about the country and absorb the culture at the same time. If you are fond of sports, you can polish your skills or learn new ones. Golf and tennis schools welcome players of all levels. If you want a bigger thrill, you can learn to surf, go climbing or race cars. It’s even possible to learn the art and techniques of bull fighting while on vacation! You can also discover your inner artist. Many places offer painting classes in different mediums. The scenic locations of the schools offer plenty of subjects that provide inspiration for practice. If you prefer capturing the world on film, take a photography vacation. Travel with a small group to photograph beautiful animals or scenery. You can also practice your technique on people or at historical sights. Once you decide on a vacation, choose a company carefully. Request names of recent customers you can contact, and then ask them for an evaluation. The more you know before you go, the better prepared you’ll be. Then go out and learn something! 24. Why is it hard for you to decide on a learning vacation? A. Because it is hard for you to make plans. B. Because the possibilities are unlimited. C. Because there are many good foods from abroad. D. Because there’re too many food festivals or events. 25. The advantages of learning a language in its native country is that ________. A. the environment is fit for you to use the language. B. you are able to learn the original foreign language. C. native speakers offer you a lot of chances to practice. D. you can learn the language and experience its culture. 26. The structure of the text would be________. 27. The purpose of writing the text is to________. A. advertise some popular summer programmes. B. encourage readers to have a good time relaxing. C. offer some tips on how to enjoy a learning vacation. D. attract more readers to spend summer time learning. 参考答案:24 – 27 B D A C [四] Saturday, March 24th We have arrived in the hot, wet city of Bangkok. This is our first trip to Thailand(泰国). All the different smells make us want to try the food. We are going to eat something special for dinner tonight. The hotel we are staying in is cheap, and very clean. We plan to stay here for a few days, visit some places in the city, and then travel to Chiang Mai in the North. Tuesday, March 27th Bangkok is wonderful and surprising. The places are interesting. We visited the famous market which was on water, and saw a lot of fruits and vegetables. Everything is so colorful, and we have taken hundreds of photos already! Later today we will leave for Chiang Mai. We will take the train north, stay in Chiang Mai for two days, and then catch a bus to Chiang Rai. Friday, March 30th Our trip to Chiang Rai was long and boring. We visited a small village in the mountains. The village people here love the quiet life—no computers or phones. They are the kindest people I have ever met. They always smile and say “hello”. Kathy and I can only speak a few words of Thai, so smiling is the best way to show our kindness. I feel good here and hope to be able to come back next year. 51. Which of the following is TRUE? A. Chiang Mai is a beautiful city in the south of Thailand. B. Do you really want to take that chance? 2 Don't bother taking notes The mere process of writing down the teacher's comments would make some of the material sink in, especially for some learners. If you take class notes, you're more likely to have all the material you need when it comes time to study for a test. Forget that! Don't write anything down, especially if it sounds important. 3 Fall asleep in class You can always spot the kids who get good report cards. They are wide awake when the teacher is talking or showing examples on the board. You can tell these kids never watch TV or play video games until the wee hours(凌晨) of the morning. You can secure a really bad grade if you stay up half the night, drag yourself to class, then doze a little while the instructor is talking. 4 Leave your work at home If, by some chance, you do all your homework and you do it very well, you still have a great shot at failing. All you have to do is leave your work at home! Successful students always gather all their materials together the night before. 5 Annoy the teacher Chew gum, don't pay attention in class, talk to your friends, sleep—do whatever you can to get on your teacher's nerves. If you annoy the teacher, he or she will always know whether to give you credit for effort. 6 Don't study for a test until the night before Kids who get As and Bs usually begin studying as soon as they find out a test is coming. They start out by reading over all their notes the first night or two, then start testing themselves with little practice questions they make up. If you really want to get an F, avoid this kind of behavior at all costs. Wait until the night right before exam day. 27. What do you think of the statements listed in bold letters? A. We can benefit from them. B. Some of them are good for us in our study. C. They tell us never to study like them. D. We should avoid such behaviors at work. 28. What does the phrase “sink in” mean? A. Go down under the surface of water. B. Understood clearly by the learners C. Destroyed completely by the learners D. Good for the learners 29. Which of the following statements is not true? A. You can keep good grades if you are wide awake while the teacher is talking. B. Successful kids are always well prepared for the materials the night before. C. Never pay attention in class, and the teacher will give you credit for effort. D. Kids can get As and Bs if they read over their notes at the beginning. 30. Which of the following behaviors can get the instructor angry? A. Chewing gum ,talking to your friends in class , paying attention to the teacher B. Sleeping ,chewing gum, talking to your friends C. Talking to your friends, taking notes in class, paying attention D. Studying in group, taking notes, paying attention 参考答案: 27-30 CBCB [六] As the Chinese mainland’s first Disney park kicks off ticket sales on Monday, Chinese scalpers are already running a thriving trade in tickets, some of which are being hawked at 1,600 yuan ($246), triple the official price.
