Help your fellow traveler While you're loading your carryon bag into the overhead space, offer to lift a fellow passenger's up there, too. Not only is it kind, but it could make the boarding process more efficient for everyone else. Keep your personal things well, personal It's important to be mindful of your personal belongings. Avoid hitting other passengers with your bag, as you walk down the aisles(过道), by keeping it in front of you and close to your body. And once you sit down, you should stay there, and make sure you have everything you will need for the flight once you settle in your seat. Reaching over other passengers to access the overhead storage during the flight is uncomfortable for everyone. Respect your (limited) space In the narrow space of an airplane, maintaining your personal space will go a long way towards making a smoother ride for everyone. Let the middleseat passenger use the armrests (it's the least you can do), and keep your legs within the width of the chair frame. Be willing to swap seats with a family 23 Airlines sometimes reserve certain seats for special passengers or charge extra fees for adjacent(毗连的) ones, making it tough for family members to buy seats together. If you're traveling alone, offer to switch seats so that a family can sit beside each other; it's a kind gesture that they won't forget. But be sure to delay swapping until the plane has reached the safe altitude,as switching seats while everyone is boarding can be an inconvenience for those standing in the walkways. 21. To be a polite airline passenger, you need to do the following except________________. A. lending a helping hand to your travelling companion B. using the armrests to support your arms if you want C. avoiding reaching over others to open the overhead storage D. keeping your bag in front of you while walking down the aisles 22. If a man wants to swap the seat with you, you should__________________. A. charge extra fees for offering adjacent seats B. ask him to reserve the seat online in advance C. offer your seat and stand in the walkways D. put off swapping unless it is safe enough 23. Where can you most probably find the text? A. In a daily newspaper. B. In a literature book. C. In an airport guidebook. D. In an official document. B Driven by her passion for providing quality healthcare, a Latvian woman has won over the hearts of the elderly residing in the nursing home she oversees. It is incredibly rare to find a Caucasian woman working as the director of a nursing home in Shanghai. But the fact that Anastasija Puzankova can even converse in Liantang, a Chinese dialect spoken only by residents in a small town in southwestern Shanghai, makes her one of a kind. “I had always wondered how the elderly were getting along with others, or if they were well cared for. I realized that I could better serve them and understand their concerns if I spoke their dialect.” says the 35-year-old, who also speaks Russian, English, Latvian, French and Spanish. 23 Puzankova chose to study Sinology(汉学) out of her curiosity about China at the University of Latvia in 2003. The next year, she traveled to Shanghai as part of an exchange program and then she spent the next 10 years studying law at Fudan University, graduating with a master's degree in 2014. Despite her qualifications, in 2018, Puzankova joined Haiyang Group, a Shanghai-based company that operates the nursing home, as an executive assistant. During that period, she performed so well in her nursing and management training that she was appointed the director of the home after just one year. A caregiver, surnamed Cai, says the atmosphere at the home has changed since Puzankova took charge. “She makes life in the nursing home uplifting and purposeful.” says Cai. “She throws monthly birthday parties for the elderly, creates a festive mood in the home for every traditional festival and frequently organizes handicrafts classes and activities to stimulate the minds of the residents.” When family visits and group activities were delayed during the novel coronavirus outbreak, Puzankova came up with a similar idea at the home, purchasing vegetable seeds and growing them in the field near the nursing home so that the residents can observe the plants growing from their windows. “Just watching the plants grow can lift their spirits. We can also serve these organic vegetables to them.” she explains. Puzankova says, “I simply like communicating with people, understanding their personalities and offering help when they are in need. Making an elderly person happy isn't hard. It just takes a little time, love and thought.” 24. Why did Anastasija Puzankova learn the Chinese dialect Liantang? A. To satisfy her superior. B. So it’s no surprise that cultures around the world celebrate spring by honoring the egg. Some traditions are simple, like the red eggs that get baked into Greek Easter breads. Others elevate the egg into a fancy art, like the heavily jewel-covered “eggs” that were favored by the Russians starting in the 19th century. One ancient form of egg art comes to us from Ukraine. For centuries, Ukrainians have been drawing complicated patterns on eggs. Contemporary artists have followed this tradition to create eggs that speak to the anxieties of our age: Life is precious, and delicate. Eggs are, too. “There’s something about their delicate nature that appeals to me,” says New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast. Several years ago, she became interested in eggs and learned the traditional Ukrainian technique to draw her very modern characters. “I’ve broken eggs at every stage of the process — from the very beginning to the very, very end.” But there’s an appeal in that vulnerability(易损性). “There’s part of this sickening horror of knowing you’re walking on the edge with this, that I kind of like, knowing that it could all fall apart at any second.” Chast’s designs, such as a worried man alone in a tiny rowboat, reflect that delicateness. Traditional Ukrainian decorated eggs also spoke to those fears. The elaborate patterns were believed to offer protection against evil. “There’s an ancient legend that as long as these eggs are made, evil will not exist in the world.” says Joan Brander, a Canadian egg-painter who has been painting eggs for over 60 years, having learned the art from her Ukrainian relatives. 28. People in many cultures honor the egg because _______________. A. it is their major source of protein in winter B. it is a welcome sign of the approach of spring C. it can bring wealth and honor to them D. it can easily be made into a work of art 29. What does the underlined word “elevate” in Paragraph 2 mean ? A. carve B. promote C. place D. lower 30. Why does Chast enjoy the process of decorating eggs? 23 A. She is never sure what the final design will look like until the end. B. She always achieves great pleasure from designing something new. C. She never knows if the egg will break before the design is completed. D. She believes there won’t be evil in the world once the egg is made. 31. The following statements are right except that _______________. A. the decorated “eggs” are favored as a form of fancy art in Russia B. contemporary artists draw on eggs to reflect anxieties of people today C. the delicate nature of eggs appeals to Roz Chast D. eggs provide a hard and unique surface to paint on D Amazon wants to be able to answer the troublesome question: Did I leave the stove on? The latest home security tool by Ring,a home security company owned by Amazon, is the Always Home Cam, a flying drone that can help homeowners check their apartments whenever they’re not in. The Always Home Cam is a lightweight, self-docking, flying indoor camera that can take a predetermined path set by its user. When used with Ring’s proprietary home alarms systems like the Ring Alarm, the Always Home Cam will take flight and check the house for any potential disturbances. The drone unit can also be controlled remotely and manually. After a flight, the Always Home Cam automatically returns to its station itself for charging. It only records while in flight, too. You can ask it to fly to check the stove while you’re out, or to see if you left the windows open. It’s also great for checking on naughty pets. The drone has obstacle avoidance technology built-in, and hidden propellers(螺旋桨) to mitigate any damage to household furnishing in the event of a collision. Amazon says the drone will automatically take flight if there’s movement in the house to show you what’s going on. It will also launch a camera and alarm system for cars next year under its Ring brand. Critics have raised privacy concerns about Ring, which is best known for its doorbell cameras, citing the company’s close relationship with police departments. Amazon said the drone only records when it is in the air, and that it makes a sound when it flies so any people in the house knows its recording. 32. What’s the main idea of the text? 23 A. I recently had to privilege to travel to Africa. This trip allowed me to see a lot more of the world than most students my age. Two years ago, a week after completing my second year in high school I flew to Nairobi, Africa. This day on June 11, 2011 I did not know what to expect. As a culturally blinded prep school student I stepped off a plane after an exhausting twenty-three hours of sitting. I was immediately exposed to an unknown world. The language as well as skin colors, facial expressions, clothing styles, and the atmosphere changed as a whole. I was expecting this trip to create huge distinctions between the people of Africa and myself. I learned the total opposite. On the first day I bonded with the school children; I played a soccer game filled with laughter, raced between schoolhouses until our legs gave out and wouldn’t let us run anymore, and hopped in a jump rope contest with a group of enthusiastic girls. When I managed to escape from the lively children and their exciting games, I attempted to make sense of what I had just experienced. My brain was filled with various thoughts, until a little girl with smooth skin, shaved head, and a torn blue and green sweater walked over and hesitantly grasped my wrist. She inspected my hands and rubbed my fingernails. She let my hands drop and she looked at her own with the same attentiveness. Her eyes rose as she began to evaluate my face. I sat down on the earth so that we were eye level and likely for interaction. She then ran her hands through my curly hair and placed her hands on her own head. Then she looked into my eyes; I looked back into hers. Charmed in the moment, I tickled(挠) her stomach, although we were both a stranger to each other. Immediately the school bell rang, she released a smile and ran towards her classroom. Paragraph 1: I watched this adolescent girl as she ran carefree towards her teachers and classmates just as I did when I was in elementary school. ___________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: This was an eye-opening experience that changed the way I see people nowadays. ___________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________ 23 2020年十月七校联考答案及详解 听力: 1-5 CCBBA 6-10 BBACA 11-15 BACAC 16-20 ABABC 阅读 21-23BDC 24-27 CDCA 28-31 BBCD 32-35ACCD 36-40 GACFD 完型 41-45 ACDDB 46-50 ABCCD 51-55 DBCBA 填词 56 extremely 57 that 58 to know 59 spacewalks 60 with 61 the 62 happened 623changing 64 produced 65 that/ which 小作文 范文: Dear Henry, How is everything going? I watched this adolescent girl as she ran carefree towards her teachers and classmates just as I did when I was in elementary school. For some reason I felt as if I had met this girl before, but I 23 knew this was impossible. After she had inspected me, and compared herself to me I could not stop thinking about our interaction. I wondered why this so emotional for me, and then I realized, to our surprise we were amazingly similar. The way this child ran, interacted with her classmates, and was so curious about me, a white stranger, made me recall the experience of my own childhood. This was an eye-opening experience that changed the way I see people nowadays. What was really fascinating to me was the similarity of the people I met, and all their personalities that were alike every single other person I came in contact with during my trip. That is why out of the 6 billion people in the world, I am constantly curious about how similar we all are, and I have sense that we are all incredibly the same, but we do not see this due to cultures and religions as well as appearances that blind us from understanding my belief. 36. G 根据标题和It’s coming中的it和 G项中的it都指代标题中的Flu 37. 23 36. C 该空前后内容是转折关系,C选项用however, it still offers considerable protection. 41. A。 43. D。根据上文中的the team were not quite … 44. D。根据上一句中的visualization technique,本句中的taking ourselves on a journey及第二段段末的we were grounded … and ready to play可知,这是一种视觉训练,在脑海中进行,创设比赛时候的场景,故future符合此处语境。 45. B。46. A。… home, getting to the stadium, being in the change room, walking out onto the … 23 50. D。根据本句中的learned to go beyond them, so that by the time we got onto the court, we were grounded … and ready to play可知,此处是在说,我们在脑海中提前感知恐惧、疑虑这些情感,并学会如何超越这些情感,这样等我们真正到了赛场上就能保持平衡心态,准备好打比赛了。 We were trained to … fear, doubt and learned to go beyond them, so that by the time we got onto the court, we were grounded, … and ready to play可知,经过这种技巧的训练,我们有望赢得比赛,但我们以何种精神状态出现在场上打比赛更重要。how we appear to play总结概括了上文中的we were grounded, … and ready to play。 53. C。 55. A。 (Text 1) W: Are you going out? M: Yes, in a little while. I’m going to buy some milk. It won’t be long. W: Could you take out the garbage on your way out? M: Sure. Leave it by the door. (Text 2) W: I’m thinking of going bowling tonight. Are you interested in coming along? We can meet at my house and then go together. 23 M: Sorry, I’m planning on staying at home tonight to study for my science exam. (Text 3) M: Excuse me, can I buy tickets here? W: No, tickets are on sale over there, at the ticket office. M: OK, is there a discount for senior citizens? W: I’m not sure. For more information ask at the ticket office. (Text 4) M: I have a sore throat and a runny nose. I think I have a cold. W: OK. Let me examine you. Over here, please. Open your mouth, please. OK. You’ve caught the flu and I think you’d better ask for sick leave from work and have a rest at home. (Text 5) M: What will Greg do when he finishes his Spanish course? W: He said he would go to Colombia for a while. M: That’s a good idea. He’ll be able to practice the language. W: Yes, he won’t have anyone to help him so he will have to speak Spanish. (Text 6) M: Look at those boats! I’m thinking of buying one. W: What? You don’t need a boat. It’s a waste of money! M: No, it isn’t. Think of all the summers we can spend on it! W: But look at the price! M: I was getting to that. With a little help from a friend, I could buy it. I just need to borrow $1,000. W: You’re kidding, right? M: No, and I promise to pay you back very soon. Please! 23 W: Sorry, Billy. I’m broke. Anyway, I wouldn’t lend you money for a boat! (Text 7) M: Hello, Mike speaking. What can I do for you? W: Hello. This is Ella Campbell, and I’m calling from Bright Lights Radio. Could I speak to your PR manager, please? M: Can I ask what your call is concerning? W: Yes, I’m calling about the new hotel your company is building near the beach in Brighton. M: OK. The PR manager is Mr. Nash. I’m afraid Mr. Nash is not available right now. Can I take a message? W: Yes, could you ask him to call me? It’s quite urgent. We want to interview him on our radio show. M: To be honest with you, Ms. Campbell, the best way to get in touch with Mr. Nash is to send him an e-mail. W: An e-mail? Is it not possible to send him a text message? M: I’m afraid not. But he does reply to all e-mails. (Text 8) W: Good morning, sir. What can I do for you? M: Hi. I just bought this camera a few days ago, but when I took it out of the packing, I noticed that there was something wrong with the flash. When I try to photograph, the flash doesn’t go off. W: I’m sorry you had a problem with our product. Do you still have the receipt? M: My receipt is right here along with the original box. W: We don’t have that product at the moment, but we can exchange it for a camera of the same price. Or, I can ask the technician to fix it, or I can give your money back. M: I think I’d like to get a new camera today instead of asking my money back. W: It looks like everything is in order. Why don’t you take a look around and see if there’s another model you like? 23 (Text 9) W: George, how are you finding living in this side of the city? M: Well, I have a job that is challenging and very interesting. I love it. But I’m a bit lonely. Although I have been living in the city for almost 30 years, my family, my friends and classmates are all in the opposite side of the city. I don’t really know anyone here except you and Tom in the office. W: Yes, it’s tough moving to a new place where you don’t know many people, but you don’t have to be lonely. There are lots of amazing people who live in this area. You should come and have dinner with us. I can introduce you to my neighbors who will absolutely love you! M: Do you think so? I’d love to meet some people who are fun to be with. W: Well, why don’t you come over to my house next Saturday? I’ll invite a group of friends who I think you’ll find both interesting and great fun.
