Module 1 My First Day at Senior High ‎ (建议用时:45分钟)‎ Ⅰ.阅读理解 A ‎(2020·烟台高三联考)‎ CrazyCreative Traditions in Schools Here are a few schools’ crazycreative traditions that will probably have you wish to go there so you could celebrate in all the graduation fun. Learn about them all in the below.‎ Attire(服装) and Flowers at College of Charleston You fashionista will love this one. During the December ceremony, women wear black dresses and men wear black tuxedos(无尾礼服). During the May ceremony, women wear white dresses and men wear summer tuxedos. It’s also been a tradition since the 1930s to carry flowers onto the stage:women carry bouquets of six red roses in a red bow and men wear a single red rose boutonniere(胸花). So classy!‎ Hoop Rolling at Wellesley College This allwomen’s college tradition was originally held on May Day, but it’s now held in April. The purpose was to allow students to essentially leave all their worries behind and just participate in some fun games outdoors. Back in the day, it was said that the winner of the hoop rolling race was the first to be married, and in the 1980s she would be the first to be a CEO. Nowadays, the winner would be the first to achieve her own happiness...that is, after being thrown into Lake Waban by all her classmates.‎ Fabric and Green Grad Recycling Program at the University of New Hampshire You’ll absolutely love this tradition. UNH’s vendor provides wrinkleresistant caps and gowns made of recycled plastic bottles. Graduates then have the opportunity to donate their gowns to be cleaned and reused. Graduates are still able to keep their caps and tassels as keepsakes, all while helping to save the environment.‎ ‎【解题导语】 本文主要介绍了三所国外学校的一些有趣的、新奇的、富有创意的传统。‎ ‎1.If you want to participate in the December ceremony, you can choose ________.‎ 9‎ A.College of Charleston B.Wellesley College C.University of New Hampshire D.Oxford University A 解析:细节理解题。根据第二段第二句中的“During the December ceremony” 可知,在College of Charleston可以参加十二月的典礼。故选A项。‎ ‎2.Hoop Rolling at Wellesley College is aimed at enabling the students to ________.‎ A.be a CEO B.have fun C.achieve happiness D.be married B 根据第三段第二句“The purpose was to allow students to essentially leave all their worries behind and just participate in some fun games outdoors.” ‎ ‎3.What are UNH’s caps and gowns made of?‎ A.Flowers. Is that you?” The woman speaking to me at the baseball game looked a little familiar. “Marci?” I asked. “It is you!” she cried out, smiling broadly. “It’s good to see you again!”‎ It was good to see Marci, too. Off and on during the past few decades, I’ve wondered about her. I almost tried to search for her a few years ago after talking to a friend who had indicated that the 1990s had been pretty rough for Marci. So meeting her at the baseball game was really a surprise.‎ We spent a few minutes talking about our lives—the good old and bad old days. Then Marci grew quiet for a moment. “You know, Joe,” she said, “I’ve always wanted to tell you how...how...sorry I am for the way I treated you. You must have been hurt both physically and mentally.” It was a little embarrassed. I turned and looked at her. “It’s OK,” I said, “No big deal!” “But I was such a jerk,” she continued. “Yes, you were,” I thought. “We were both pretty young,” I smiled. “I know,” she said. “It’s just always bothered me, remembering how mean I was to you. And I’ve wanted to tell you that I’m sorry.” The expression on her 9‎ ‎ face was warm and sincere. And there was something in her eyes—it looked a lot like relief. “OK,” I said. “Apology accepted!” Overcome by the sweetness of the moment, I reached an arm around her and gave her a quick hug. Just then, the crowd erupted with a huge cheer, and Marci and I both returned our attention to the game. By the time I looked over to where she had been and she was gone. But the warm, wonderful feeling of our brief exchange was still there, and continues to this day whenever I think about it.‎ It isn’t enough to just say “I’m sorry” and “You’re forgiven”. But when those words are truly felt and sincerely expressed, they can open the door to miracles of the heart. Forgiveness can bring peace to an injured soul—even years after the fact. Even at a baseball game.‎ ‎【解题导语】 本文是一篇记叙文。“我”在棒球赛场见到了多年未见的朋友Marci。她见到“我”后为以前那样对待“我”向“我”真诚地道歉,“我”立刻原谅了她。之后“我们”都感到温暖和愉快。‎ ‎4.What kind of life did Marci live during the late 20th century according to the passage?‎ A.Happy. B.Busy.‎ C.Hard. 根据第二段第三句“I almost tried to search for her a few years ago after talking to a friend who had indicated that the 1990s had been pretty rough for Marci.” ‎ ‎5.What does the underlined word “jerk” in the third paragraph mean?‎ A.A humorous person.‎ B.A cruel person.‎ C.A careless person.‎ D.An honest person.‎ B 根据画线词下文中的“It’s just always bothered me, remembering how mean I was to you.” ‎ ‎6.Why did Marci look in relief after talking with the author?‎ A.Because her favorite team won the game.‎ B.Because she learned Joe was living a good life.‎ C.Because she made an apology to the author.‎ 9‎ D.Because she found she was not mean any longer.‎ C 根据第三段中的“‘...And I’ve wanted to tell you that I’m sorry.’ The expression on her face was warm and sincere. And there was something in her eyes—it looked a lot like relief.” ‎ ‎7.What might be the best title for the passage?‎ A.Excitement of a Baseball Game B.Mental Burden of a Woman C.Miracles of Forgiveness D.Relief of Finding a Friend C ‎ Ⅱ.七选五 ‎(2020·兰州高三诊断)Have you ever wondered what the real meaning of the saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed” is? 1.________. True friendship is the one, in which the individuals do not have to maintain good manners with each other. Sharing true friendship is the situation, when the person you are talking about is regarded as one among your family members, when the relation you share with him or her reaches a stage that even if you don’t correspond for some time, your friendship remains unchanged.‎ The trust between best friends is such that if one friend falls in trouble, the other will not think twice to help. If the bond between two friends is strong, true friends can tolerate even long distances. 2.________. It would not affect their friendship.‎ ‎3.________. They would face it together and support each other, even if it is against the interests of the other person. Best friends don’t analyze each other and they don’t have to do so. They accept each other with their positive and negative qualities. 4.________. They know each other’s strengths as well as weaknesses. One would not overpower the other. They would respect each other’s individuality. In fact, they would understand the similarities and respect the differences.‎ True friendship is marked by selflessness.
