Hellen Keller, the well-known writer and educator, died yesterday at the age of 88.‎ 海伦•凯勒,著名作家,教育家,于昨天去世,享年88岁。(L37)‎ ‎(1)well-known = famous “著名的”‎ ‎(2)die v. 死亡 ‎ ‎①Many people die of cancer last year. ‎ 去年有许多人死于癌症。‎ ‎②That old man died last week. ‎ 那位老人上周死了。‎ 扩展:‎ 由die组成的词组:‎ the die is cast 木已成舟;die down 平静下来;die hard 顽固的人 提示:‎ dead和died都是死的意思,但die是动词(过去式),指的是动作;‎ dead是形容词,指的是状态。另外,die是瞬间动词,不能和表示一段时间的词语连用,若要用,需要be dead 来替换。如:‎ ‎③This little animal has died. 这个小动物昨天死的。‎ The dog has already been dead for two weeks. 狗已经死了两星期了。‎ ‎2. Helen wanted to understand other people.‎ 海伦想理解别人。 (L37)‎ ‎※ other, another, the other与others的区别 other既可以修饰可数名词又可以修饰不可数名词。‎ ‎①I have no other choice but to wait until he comes back.‎ 我没有其他选择,只有等他回来。‎ the other表示两者中另外一个,与one搭配 ‎②There are two ways for you to choose. One is to ask for others, the other is to do yourself.‎ 有两条路供你选择:一条是求别人帮忙,一条是你自己做。‎ the others指有范围的其他部分,与some搭配。‎ ‎③In the classroom, some students are reading, while the others are writing.‎ 教室里,部分学生在读书,其他的在写字。‎ another “(三者或三者以上)再一,又一”‎ I don’t like this pen, please show me another. ‎ 我不喜欢这支笔,请再给我看一支吧。‎ ‎3. That day, she learned many more words .‎ 那天,她学了更多的单词 。 (L37)‎ 辨析:learn与study 两个词都作“学习”解,有时可以互换使用。如:‎ He is learning/studying English now. 他在学习英语。‎ 但learn 侧重于学习的成果,有“学会,学到”的意思。‎ study 侧重于学习的过程,有“研究”“钻研”的意思。‎ He studies hard and finally learned the language.‎ 他努力学习,终于学会了这门语言。‎ I learnt a new song. 我学了一首新歌。‎ 注意:‎ ‎“向某人学习”应该说learn from,不能用study。如: ‎ Learn from Lei Feng. 向雷锋学习。‎ ‎4. Create an imaginary hero and write something about him or her.(L37)‎ on与about表示“关于”‎ about和on都有“关于”的意思。在涉及文章、书籍、谈话、演说、报告等有关内容时两者可通用。如:a book on/about history (一本关于历史的书)。 ‎ about 表示的内容较为普通,不那么正式;‎ on用于较正式的场合,多指严肃的或学术性的 ‎①This is a book for children about Africa and its people.‎ 这是一本供儿童阅读的有关非洲或非洲人的书。‎ ‎②In the library she has found many books on different subjects.‎ 在图书馆里,她找到了许多不同学科的书籍。‎ ‎5. He once operated for sixty-nine hours without stopping.‎ 有一次他连续69小时不休息地做手术。 (L38)‎ operate v .开刀;动手术 ‎①The doctors are operating on the girl. 医生正在给这个女孩动手术。‎ 提示:‎ 给某人做手术常用词组operate on sb.‎ Did you operate on that patient? 你给那位病人做手术了吗?‎ ‎6. I have told Mrs.Liu that I would like to help her teach our English class.‎ 我已经告诉Mrs. Liu 我愿意帮她教英语课。(L39)‎ would like, like与want would like意为“想要”“愿意”,用于礼貌的提出要求或表示愿意提供帮助,后面接名词、代词、to do ‎ ‎①We would like a cup of tea. 我们想喝茶。‎ ‎②I would like to go. 我愿意去。‎ ‎※like 意为“喜欢”“喜爱”,后面接名词、代词、to+动词原形或动名词。‎ ‎③We like playing basketball. 我们喜欢打篮球。‎ ‎④Do you like to fly a kite? 你喜欢放风筝吗?‎ want v. 要,想要 want to do sth. 想要去做某事 want sb.to do sth. 要某人做某事 ‎⑤I want to go to Shijiazhuang for my holiday. 我要去石家庄度假。‎ ‎⑥I want you to help me. 我需要你帮助我。‎ ‎7. Enough rice is produced now to feed the people of China.(L40)‎ enough pron. adj. & adv.‎ pron. 意为“充分;足够”。如:‎ ‎①I have had enough, thank you.谢谢你,我吃饱了。‎ adj. 意为“充足的;足够的”,在句中可做定语或表语。‎ 作定语时,一般放在它所修饰的名词前面。如:‎ ‎②I have enough money to buy a color TV set.我有足够的钱买台彩电。‎ adv. 意为“充分地;足够地”,通常要把它放在所修饰的形容词、副词或动词的后面,常与不定词或介词for连用。如:‎ ‎③You don't practise enough at the piano.你钢琴弹奏练习的不够。‎ ‎④Is the river deep enough for swimming? 河的深度够游泳吗?‎ ‎...enough to do sth. 足够……去做某事 ‎⑤He is not old enough to go to school.‎ 他年龄太小不能去上学。‎ ‎8. 被动语态(L40)‎ 构成:be + v.-ed (有各种时态,体现在be 上)‎ ‎①The sports meeting will be held next Sunday.‎ 运动会下个星期日举行。‎ 用法:(1)不知道或没有必要说明动作的执行者是谁。‎ ‎②This bridge was founded in 1981.这座桥竣工于1981年。‎ ‎(2)当主语是动作的承受者,而不强调动作的执行者时。‎ ‎③This book was written by him.这本书是他写的。‎ 含有情态动词的被动语态 can/ may/ must/ need/ should/ would + be + v.-ed ‎ ‎④The flower must be watered at once. ‎ 这些花必须马上被浇。‎ make , let , have 等使役动词变被动语态应为: be made to do ‎ ‎⑤The workers were made to work 12 hours a day. ‎ 这些工人每天被要求工作12个小时。‎ ‎【模拟试题】(答题时间:60分钟)‎ 一. 单选。‎ ‎( )1.
